Hey I was wondering if wheel filters are available in sydney (those disc filtering devices that go onto needles), i would probably be looking for 0.2 or 0.45 micron filters.

On another note, what do pharmacies usually sell in regards to harm reduction for IV use? I know they sell fitpacks (5 packs of needles, unsure of what gauge though), distilled water and a butterfly something.

Any advice from IV users out there on filter/needle availability would be great!

I'm not from Sydney but in Melbourne they do sell wheel filters at the NSP's. I'm sure there would be many in Sydney and they should have what your looking for. just google a local community health centre and call them up and ask about information about a needle and syringe program. they should be able to at least point you in the right direction.

the chemists in Melbourne sell the 27 gauge, some sell the smaller 29 gauge fit.... they mainly come without spoons, and sometimes cotton.

Hey dude, you can buy them online at http://www.exchangesupplies.org/index.html

If you check this page out - http://www.sesiahs.health.nsw.gov.au/albionstcentre/needlestick.asp they have a hotline for injecting drug users, they could probably direct you someplace with wheel filters in Sydney.

http://www.sydneymsic.com/ - This is the site for Sydney's injecting drug centre, I am sure if you check out the page and contact them they could assist you in your search, there is a good chance they may supply the filters themselves. I am in Melbourne and don't inject so I can't say with any certainty.

Mods, forgive me if the links are inappropriate but as I understood it links were OK if it was for HR purposes as I believe is the case in this thread. Feel free to edit if I am mistaken.

^they look all kosher to me. as long as the website don't have links or advertisement to other sites which sell drugs, etc. HR product related sites are fine:)

IV Product Review Thread says what it is.

in most of my experiences, besides the pre-packaged fit packs they sell, they generally other guage needles in packs of 100 ranging from 28-31 behind the counter; all you do is ask what they;ve got, sell boxes of 3 and 5mL luer lock syringes which can alternatively can be used as oral/rectal and nasal administration. and the different sized needles to screw on which are gnerally 26g-22ish which are considerably larger than the typical fit paks. if you use the largwer guage tips you must rotate regularly oth=aster track marks. then

most carry packs of sterile bcreams as well.

not all carry sterifilts or micron filters around my town, well none do actually. generally chains or stores in metropolitan areas will however and have them available though not all.

you will find everything you need from online stores. such things as storage beaker, bacteriostatic water, preservatives for storing for longer periods of time, makig sure to refridgerate.

hope this gives you a bit more of an insight:)

Yeah you can grab all sizes at NUAA (cnr Crown and Albion st) and ACON (pretty much corner of Commonwealth and Liverpool st) for free in the CBD...plus all sorts of other assorted goodies

Butterflies are a pain to get but Sharpes Pharmacy at Taylor Square has them...theyre actually pretty good for stocking most equipment and are like 9-9 most days i think...it can be kinda pricey tho (compared to other places)

MSIC (the injecting centre) has butterflies and the red (1.2 i think) micron filters for use on the premises but you cant get take aways of them

For QLD'ers: (07) 3238 4040 Queensland Needle Exchange

No longer living in QLD, when I lived back then, there was a exchange in city sold wheel filters for few bucks, they great. Just remember to "wet" the filters a bit before you extract the cloudly liquid :)
