Whats your setup when you play out?

Well, i use my buddies equipment, cause im too poor to buy my own, so i don't know the exact brands, but he uses an Apple laptop (ibook?) with serato, two turntables, mixer.

I use

macbook
m-audio torq
Xponent

Can't afford anything else, but this gear is surprisingly good. It's almost 3 yrs old and still kicking.

black citronic pd45's direct drive beasts and a gemini ps03 mixer.....oh and pink skull candy headphones (puts on shades and nods head) love my set up

I just pimped my setup. custom made a case for my traktor kontrol X1 and audio 8 sound card. the X1 sits on top of the sound card with all the wires under the X1 in the case, leading out the back. All I ever have to do to set up now is pull the wires out and plug them into the mixer. everything else stays in the case. saves SO much hassle setting up gear at an event. small footprint too. it's bitchin. will post pics when I can. traktor heads, prepare to drool.

whats your set up ?

exactly the question... what do you compose your sets from?
i use traktor abelton a turntable and an external efx processor... and am lucky enough to have friends who produce original traks and let me uses them for free.. so whATS YOUR SET UP????? just curious????

currently i use an ASUS laptop and a Numark Omni Controller when i play out and about, its small simple and quick and easy to set up.

I have been Dj'ing for the past 8 years, I started off using Pioneer CDJ1000's, and Technics 1200's through a Pioneer DJM-800 mixer which some dickhead spilled their beer on and it no longer works :-(

I don't play out anymore, just the occassional house party but I still have my setup and I mess around for my own amusement quite regularly..

Technics 1200's Tables
Behringer BCD2000 Mixer
Serato
HP Laptop
Skullcandy Headphones
Still got a bunch of vinyl, but with digital DJing progressing, they sit in the box a fair whack of the time...

totally feel you. I actually don't use the keys in live performances (or ever actually). it's just a piece of gear that I have had since day one, and I am comfortable with it. I am not good enough with keyboards to merit buying a real keyboard controller. an SL zero would totally do the trick.I used to use my sl25 in for my traktor setup for cueing and efx and stuff before I switched to the ddm-4000 for that. nice piece of gear for that, but the ddm-4000 has it all in one place.

I also grabbed a control X1 when they first came out. AWESOME rig if you are using traktor and a clib dj mixer. It was a bit of a pain in the dig to clear a footprint for my ddm-4000 in situations where I had to set up in the middle of a show. I used the x1 a few times for DJ sets, but haven't figured out the best way to rig it into a live show yet. probably worth looking into though.

mdmahead, what are you thinking about getting?

an SL zero would totally do the trick.

Yeah the SL Zero is great - so many controls, and it hardly takes up any space either. I might buy one in the future, but I'm not yet good enough at production to really need all those controls.

Novation really do make some great products. Just a shame their keys suck. Oh, and have you seen the SL mk2 series? - I can't beleive they got rid of one of the LCD displays!!!! - those LCD displays were one of the best features of the mk1 series (which I have)!!!!
