We all have one (at least) - a film that the critics hated. The public hated. Your mates hated. But, for one reason or another, you liked. Fess up people! And lets try to keep the flaming to a minimum :)

I'll unburden myself first. I actually enjoyed Alexander. I know people that actually couldn't make it through the whole thing. But hot guys in skimpy grecian warrior outfits... SOLD! Ha ha

Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Everyone thought it was boring as fuck, but I thought it was really, really interesting. Granted, the second movie was an absolute classic, but I only bothered to get the first one on DVD. And I watched it twice in a row the first night I got it. Yeah, I'm a loser.

I'd have to go for Showgirls, even tho it's become a cult classic. It's just so hilarious!. It cracks me up when Elizabeth Berkley vomits after she discovers that guy's legged it with her suitcase. Wtf's that all about? lol.

My second choice would be Last Days. I really liked it and I thought it captured something that your regular biopic wouldn't have. It was an interesting take on what could of happened. And after all, we'll never know what really happened anyway.

Both Duke and the Doctor are one-dimensional walking chemistry sets, lacking the perspective on themselves that they have in both the book and the strip.

The result is a horrible mess of a movie, without shape, trajectory or purpose--a one joke movie, if it had one joke.

The movie goes on and on, repeating the same setup and the same payoff: Duke and Gonzo take drugs, stagger into new situations, blunder, fall about, wreak havoc, and retreat to their hotel suite

As for Depp, what was he thinking he made this movie? He was once in trouble for trashing a New York hotel room, just like the heroes of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." What was that? Research? After River Phoenix died of an overdose outside Depp's club, you wouldn't think Depp would see much humor in this story--but then, of course, there *isn't* much humor in this story.

Hellraiser: Bloodline. I thought the movie was an excellent sequel. It was the only one of the older horror movies that was great in space. I know a lot of people hated this sequel but Pinhead kicked ass in this movie.

What universe did you watch this film in? ;)

Almost everyone will agree that Depp hit a homerun with his take on Hunter S. Thompson. It's one of the best acting performances of the last 10 years.

I honestly can't think of a guilty pleasure movie off the top of my head. Maybe something from my childhood that has nostalgic value like Three Ninjas, but I watched that recently and it sucked donkey balls. Is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles considered a bad movie? Freddy vs. Jason was pretty hilariously campy. I'm bad at this thread.
 
Probably The Hulk or Mission Impossible. Both great films in my opinion.

Here's my rationale for the Hulk:

I enjoyed the fact that it was more about inner turmoil, family issues and drama than about "Hulk Smash". I think most of what I enjoyed about that film was what others didn't. I'm not a fan of the conventional super hero film. I prefer a dramatic movie with comic book elements.

Couldn't agree more! I bought it on VHS from ebay for $1.40 ha ha. I've forced so many people to sit thru it. They are all disgusted with me by the end. The acting's atrocious. Thw script is atrocious. The direction is atrocious. There's really no part of that movie that isn't atrocious. That's why i love it.
Everyone thought Showgils was going to do for Elizabeth Berkley what Basic Instinct did for Sharon Stone. Can someone please tell me how anyone can think that gyrating naked on a fully clothed man with his coked up bitch watching would further their career? Unless in porn, of course.

You forgot to mention the part where she's flailing around like a demented sea creature in the swimming pool. =D

This film is in no way sexy. I mean, Gina Gershon is a strangely attractive woman. But this film stripped away her sexiness and replaced it with...God knows what. But whenever I need to cheer myself up with a film, I dust this one off and prepare myself for a huge laugh that's guranteed to follow.
 
Kenneth Branagh's Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. I absolutely love this one.....people call it over-the-top, an absolute parody, etc. but I think they are just blind. "The truest representation in film of a seminal work of English literature." It's sad and yet it's still so goddamn entertaining.

but, didn't Frankenstien create a wife for the monster with the parts of his lover? Then fell in love with it? Not very true to the book...although it is the truest I've seen.
