Stimulants what's with the tolerance?

i've been using amphetamines occasionally for the past year and i love them. i can confirm that you can never get the first rush back, even with long breaks in between use. from experience you can get stronger effects from higher doses but the euphoria always either remains constant or decreases over time... the first amp rush i experienced felt like the most euphoric rush ever (though i can't tell if it was better than salvia 50x).

today i popped my highest dose yet (75 mg XR - yes i'm still crashed out) and had a great time, yet i find it peculiar that the rush was not as great as the first time, even though my first time was on a semi full stomach and only 60 mg. any theories on the pharmacology behind this? is there any ways to get that original rush back? DXM?
