What's the story behind your nickname - Part 2

Straylight's a computer on a space satellite in a book by William Gibson called Neuromancer. This guy is the goods when it comes to sci-fi- VR, The Matrix, etc all came from this book.
Like Straylight, I'm a bit of a space cadet and a little out of touch with life on earth!

As a roadie the term 'shmeg' means 'little bits of shit'..... so at the end of a gig someone goes around and picks up all the 'shmeg'. i.e. Gaffa, leccy tape, blacks, loose bits, etc...
'smeg' also comes from my favourite TV show 'Red Dwarf'...
On tour once a mate of mine, Slime, referred to me as a 'Shmeghead', meaning i've got shit in my head, and it stuck...
I've also picked up 'peace, 'Roy', 'cyril', 'freddo', and some others along the way for various reasons.

well.. icantfeelmylegs is from can't hardly wait. If you've seen it you all know the bit.. I was just impressed by his sincerity and the enthusiasm of the response he was given. *grins*
often it is also a useful tool for describing actual states of being whereby physical perambulation is well night impossible. for instance..
"Hey voodoogurl.. you know these things? (points to leg) we used to use them for something, didn't we?... Hmm.. yes.. walking I believe *grins* icantfeelmylegs!"
and of late i've heard it places i'd never expect to.. a few places in chris farleys movies and sketches.. and some other places that refuse to come to mind after my weekend.
my previous incarnation was Miasma.. but that gave people the wrong idea about me.. *grins* no.. the deoderant I have now is working fine, thanks!

Ok, since this new thread is looking empty, I'll finally get around to explaining my nick.
"gleep" is the sound a baby dragon makes, before it can speak other languages

And if you don't belive me, just try to have a conversation with a dragon under the age of 300 years, it won't work.
I choose to use the lowercase g because my nickname isn't really a name, or the description "the sound a baby dragon makes" it is the actual sound. Ya dig? So really, my nickname should actually be represented online as a audio file, not text. But hey, it will do for now

One day, I'd like a pet baby dragon of my own, and I'll call him "Gleep" (yes, the word Gleep this time, not the sound). I'll feed him old clothing, they like that sort of thing.

it's just meant to sound like euphoria... but look somewhat different... don't ask me why, but i thought that it was witty at the time...

oh..yeah..nezo...short for kinezo...it's what my greek friends call me ... so it's a greek word... that's all... no dragons ... no drug connitations ... just plain nezo...and it's pronounced ne - zo...not kneezo...mmkay?
 
a long time ago when i wasnt a bedle i made up this funny language (dunno why) n i added "edle"s on the end of everything.. eg just take the first letter of whatever n put an "edle" on the end ..
(bessie my name = bedle)
n for some reason it really CAUGHT ON n everyone became "edles".. sumhow my edle stuck and everyone elses moved on to bigger n better things.. but im still bedle

well, when younger i was the first child and when they were asleep and i would cry at night they thought it was a ghost.
so they called me spook. it rymes with my name so it stuck. my dad and a few of my friends call me spook as a name now, so it has stuck.
kinda like my brother who is bear to all of us, cos he was so farking grizzly when he was younger, and still is mind you.

here's my nick:
anyone here read jeff noon? im a big fan and read just about all his books(vurt, pollen, nymphomation, pixel juice, needle in the groove, automated alice, etc), except for two, one of which is titled "cobralingus".
so there i was on the public bus reading "vurt" (which i borrowed from the library), flipped the page and found a marijuana leaf nicely pressed like someone had been using it as a bookmark. maybe its no big deal coming across that here(australia), but "Oceania" would best describe the place im from
incidentally, "vurt" is the name of a virtual drug in the book and is ingested by licking a coloured feather.
and "vurtomatic", i coined

Letsee, i have two nicks, my online one and my real one.
Flea is what everyone calls me in person, and the first response i always get is either playing an Air Guitar, or a "You like the chili peppers!!? Sick i do too!"
Anyway, the origins of that name came back in the days of primary school.. to cut a long story short, we gave a mate a shit nickname, and i guess i teased him about it the most, so he decided to give me a shit nick... His reasoning was that, saying Phillip (my real name) fast, over and over...you eventually get Flea... but you don't so dont bother trying =]
Anyway, i hated it, but eventually it stuck, and so was born Flea!
Birth of Tesi, came from a friends nick, I just thought it was sweet as

vurtomatic - Afraid not... But it is from a book. Robert Asprin's "Another Fine Myth". There are about 10 books in his Myth series, very funny stuff.
