Is there a scene..?

Not much from what I've seen so far. Lots of country and rap..ew.

I'm glad I moved to austin though, it's a pretty cool city.

It sucks leaving Detroit, home of techno.

There is a scene in Austin and Houston, especially the latter. Can't peak for DFW, but outside of those three, forget about it. Talking to ravers in S.A. is basically, "This one time in Austin/Houston/some other way more chill city..."

I envy you.

Woefully lacking.

Austin is an Alt Country type of (small) town.
Despite the 'bigheadedness' of many residents.
But, you may have better luck than I.

I personally prefer S.A. my hometown.
If you know the right people there's better vibes galore there.

Houston holds it down homie every Saturday night at stereolive there's a show/event bringing huge names, knife party, armin van buuren, dirty south, dirty phonics, John digweed so so many more, Austin throws down though from my understanding. Got some local DJ's up there Gamma and Teddy Chang, they're friends of friends but they are apart of the good shows in Austin keep a eye out for event flyers with their names on it and hit those up

i live in Austin haha. Emos east, haven, republic live, Austin music hall, antones, kingdom, the parish, etc... all places around Austin that play EDM events. for example, kaskade already played or is playing very soon at kingdom, and borgore is at republic this Friday. Austin Music Hall and Emos East play all kinds of music but a lot of EDM and generally bigger shows. Guys like Bassnectar and Excision play at Austin Music Hall when they come around. Also, check out stubbs, as many good artists go by there. Big Gigantic and Lotus were both there this year.

If they ever have it again, one thing you should definitely check out is Nocturnal Wonderland. Ive heard it compared it to things like Bisco and Electric Forest in a sense that it is very hippy vibed and chilled out. less of a Bro-ish crowd and more of a nice, rave, plur crowd. im sure you will probably end up at several of the same shows as me.

Also, if you come up with a few hundred, there are PLENTY of great shows to see during SXSW. went for my first one this past year, and am going to do it again for the next several years. who knows, maybe ill play at SXSW one year haha. if all goes well (really well).

EDIT: for 420 I barely did anything. I went to a warehouse rave after midnight until 4 AM over at a place on lava hill road which is south of the airport. I skipped out on Marley Fest and all of the 420 festivities.

Sooo depressing nocturnal isn't returning this year :(...was my first festival was looking forward to making it a annual thing. Hopefully insomniac brings it back but word from a few little birds is disco Donnie and insomniac aren't working together anymore. Why Disco Donnie is helping out with Meltdown festival, and Something Wicked. Being from houston hope to see a lot of peeps around for something wicked October 26th!

When I lived there years ago I'm pretty sure I went to a couple of those types out that way. Nice to know they are still around.
