What's the reason for inconsistent highs with Oxycodone?

Before you say "TOLERANCE!" which seems like the obvious answer, hear me out for a sec.

I've been taking Oxy on and off for about 8 months. I generally never need more than 7.5-15mg for a very nice euphoric buzz (I'm not looking to nod, just relax). I also only dose once per day to maximize my highs and reduce tolerance build up and possible W/D complications (I haven't withdrawn once, even after stopping a few weeks here and there, just very very minor symptoms).

Anyway, the point of my post is that some days, once in a while, I'll dose my usual 10mg (give or take) and after 45 minutes, I'll feel nothing. Then after another 45 minutes or so goes by, it will hit me and feel like I just took it 30 minutes ago. It's weird as hell. Most days I'll dose and 30 minutes later the build up comes and by 45 minutes the high is peaking.

Also, I don't quite understand the fact that the bioavailability of the drug is lower when snorted. If I snort 10mg, it hits me like I took 20mg orally. If the bioavailability is lower (which I know it is), why does it hit me like a truck?

Thanks for any responses, I'm just curious.

I took 10mg at 5:20pm today, I didn't even feel it at all until 7:30pm. Now it's hitting me fairly hard.

Weird. :\

Also, when I dosed today my stomach was emptier than it usually is when I dose. So it can't be "contents of my stomach," at least I don't think it is.

Higher bioavailability does not mean that the drug hits you harder. Most people feel it hit harder via the nasal route, but the oral route provides a longer high.

Maybe pH of your stomach at the time of ingestion has an influence on the breakdown of the drug?

^This.

There are many variables to consider...you won't get the exact same high every single time, and this is discounting tolerance as a variable.

I really think we could only speculate about this, which isn't really in the HR direction. I'm going to close this thread, OP, PM me if you have any questions, thank you :)
