🌟🌟 Social 🌟🌟 What's the last film you saw? v. Why doesn’t Peter Jackson wear shoes?

Just rewatched Blossi 810551. Great little known Icelandic flick that i first saw on the Canadian channel showcase back in the day. It was on the show they had on called the showcase review. It had alot of foreign movies. There was no other way to see movies like that back in the day. Good luck finding them at your local video store. I looked foreward to the showcase review coming on and i would come home drunk or high or tripping and watch these movies.

Alot of these movies are almost impossible to find even in this day and age. I couldnt find Blossi anywhere on the usual free streaming sites. I cant actually say how i got it eiher except a fellow Bler may have helped me out.

Went through a List of the best Movies of 2024 and all I Saw were just mediocre.

I remember only longlegs, a Horror Movie and deadpool 3 which was also way less good Then the 2 parts before.

I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013) - 4 out of 5 - Same sort of plot as the 2010 remake of the original but way more brutal both ways. Katie Carter is an aspiring model in New York. After going to a free photoshoot with some Eastern European guys who end up trying to pressure her into doing nudes, she refuses and leaves only to later have one of them break into her apartment and rape her. Long story short, she ends up kidnapped and wakes up in a basement chained to a pipe on a dirty mattress (in what turns out to be Bulgaria) where she is repeatedly beaten/raped. I actually almost turned the film off like 50 mins into it because it started to feel really exploitative, but, like, aimed toward guys who would ENJOY seeing this happen to her. I'm SO GLAD I didn't, though because holy shit, her revenge makes the previous film look like a Pixar movie. Definitely worth it for her revenge, although the whole movie is VERY dark and made me feel kinda agoraphobic.

Top Quotes:

Katie: They used to use electricity to help the mentally ill. Since you are so SICK, you, Valco are going to need a GREAT DEAL of THERAPY! [she repeatedly electrocutes him as he screams in pain]

Katie (to Georgie, having chained him to a wall underground, near where they previously kept her): Nobody can here you down here. Scream all you want! It's not gonna work. Believe, me, I TRIED! [after using a box-cutter to lacerate him in several places]
Katie: I could castrate you...[Georgie whimpers]..or I could slit your throat. But you are a sick and diseased bag of flesh...and that is how you deserve to die. Rotting.
[She rubs rotting food and rat feces into his wounds]
Katie (before walking away): I'd get some anti-biotics if I were you. Wouldn't want infection to set in

Interstellar, Not too great science fiction Movie:
You didn't like it? I thought it was one of Christopher Nolan's best films, after Prestige.

Kinda rips a little off 2001: A Space Odyssey, but what sci-fi hasn't pulled from Kubrick?

i'm the same. i loved some of the shots in interstellar but those stupid fucking robots spoiled the movie for me.

I thought they were endearing lol. I appreciated the direct nod to essentially the source work for the film. Like “hey, I’m well aware of the similarities here. And I’m proud of it.”

i watched the accountant 2.

it was not as good as the first one - it felt pretty disjointed - but it was entertaining and not too mentally taxing which is exactly what i was looking for on sunday night before bed :)

Been on a Michael Mann kick lately.

Rewatched Thief (1981) this weekend as well as Heat (1995). Both are excellent films but I really think Thief is his best film I’ve seen, a true masterpiece of neon 80s cinema.

Also watched The Last of the Mohicans last night, but either I’m not too interested in the French and Indian War, or I just felt the plot to be a bit weak. It just didn’t draw me in. Good acting and great cinematography, just… I dunno, didn’t greatly enjoy it.

Watched Manhunter (1986) two nights ago, had no idea it was the original film appearance of Hannibal Lector.

Pretty damn good. Awesome 80s synth soundtrack with a fantastic use of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida during the finale.

8/10

Hope I can find a good blu-ray copy, or it comes out on 4k. Looks pretty picked over...
