Speaking of rating movies, there is literally a metric shit ton of movie threads that are without polls. I liked it better when HNIF was modding. He was quick to jump on a poll.

Interestingly enough, the only movie thread in the last two pages without a poll is one started by you. lel

I'll let Bardo5 take care of it. I'm on a phone and its a bitch to do it on.

Maybe I exaggerated the weight just a tad. You weren't supposed to call me on my bs, Max. I thought we had something special, you and I.

Here's a few that I know of without polls:

Actually, Mr. Nice already has another thread here: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/573202-Mr-Nice

I only remembered because I was the one who posted it.

TEXAS-CHAINSAW-Poster1.jpg

I watched this last night out of sheer boredom and curiosity. Fuck me, this movie was insanely dumb. Why in the hell did they make a Texas Chainsaw movie in which Leatherface is the sympathetic victim? WHY?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You lose all of your sympathy points when you kill someone with a hammer, chainsaw, meat hook, or anything else, for the sole purpose of eating them!

jack reacher

meh.

Yeah, I liked the books a fair bit, alot more could have been done with the movie, but I guess it's hard to chose parts to include in a movie of all those books. No romance and not enough of Reachers ability to rough people up (I know there was some, but..)

Anyway I thought it was average and they probably could have got a better Reacher than Tom Cruise, someone who looked rougher and bigger, I suppose I just didn't picture Reacher like Tom Cruise at all from the books.

So, my initial thoughts when this thing was coming out was "Oh boy, look - another generic Rom Com". But then the reviews started coming in and they were mostly positive, which surprised me a bit, but not too much since David O. Russel is pretty well-loved by critics. Then my buddy, who also hates generic Rom Coms, told me that it was actually pretty damn good film (which surprised the shit out of me). Then Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress (which also surprised me). Then, several months later, I finally saw it and was...

Really unimpressed and disappointed. Aside from the acting (which was quite good on the whole [JL really shined, though]) and the score, I don't have many good things to say about the movie. The story was relatively bland and poorly-organized (for example, the over-arching conflict isn't established until the last 20-30 minutes), the script seemed silly and cliche (some parts more than others), and I didn't like Bradley Cooper's character at all...really, aside from JL's character, I didn't like anyone. Most of the characters seemed so two-dimensional and illogical (some might call it 'stupid') - I get that the point of them acting that way was to establish that "Everyone is a little bit crazy", but to me that seems like a lazy way to get away with plot holes and stupid decisions from characters.

I didn't hate Silver Linings Playbook, but I was sorely disappointed. It was better than my immediate reaction to the trailers led me to think, but it didn't meet the expectations that friends and the media gave me.

the last two films i saw (besides the avatar 3d tv test thing) both ended in lame arsed unecessary fist fights. that and i'm bored of tom cruise in god mode. the scene with him shirtless where they basically verbally jerk him off was particularly disconcerting. every time the actress spoke, and the view was behind cruise, he had this gross little bit of boob sticking out. does he really think he's in good shape? he looks weird. even the fighting was completely uninspired and was not exciting at all.

in all fairness the guy is in pretty decent shape for 50 or whatever he is. I cant see myself looking that good lol.

I spent a lazy Saturday afternoon in the cinema watching Warm Bodies, a zombie romance flick and it was surprisingly good. It has plot holes (but it is about zombies so what film doesn't?), and its not laugh out funny the whole way, but it was sweet and an interesting concept whose low budget didn't let down the special effects.

he's not in the film.

Like Bukowski was in Barfly or HST in Fear & Loathing .Irvine Welsh in...

Anyway, you're right. But this was the Jim Carey role that made me respect him as a serious actor. If you watch some of Kaufman's material you'll see how spot on the acting was. I'm a fan of Andy Kaufman's style so I have a soft spot for the film.

i'm not done being annoying...

i haven't seen any of kaufman's stuff, but i do want to after seeing that movie.

La belle personne

chosen because the cover art reminds me of the the murdered guitar player in Made in U.S.A and i just saw léa seydoux in the prada short--furthering my recent obsession with her.

she sports the despondent, deep, pretty look for most of the film. she cries gracefully. she is beautiful.

i didn't think much of the movie beyond that. like a gloomier, cheaper woody allen film. very much so. i don' think i've seen anything else by christophe honoré, but judging from this film i'd guess he thinks there is little more to life than romantic relationships and being pedantic. the characters feel like obsessive, lustful sociopaths, and it's difficult to determine if that's how they are supposed to be perceived or if honoré's ideas of love permit for this behavior. it's all about characters exploring the concepts of love and romance, and, again like a woody allen film, this means acting like callous, crazed idiots toward one another because everyone is so taken by this compulsive love.

i didn't find out until after watching it that it is a made for tv movie. i am not surprised.

you see léa's tits. they are nice. nothing new there. her distant, teary stare is much nicer. other than her, the only thing cool about the movie is that the obsession or love between the two characters that drives the plot [spoil]never involves as much as a kiss.[/spoil] that's also reflective of what a bunch of nonsense the whole thing is.

iron man 3. it was alright, exactly what you'd expect, except ben kingsley.. in a way. he was great.

i saw iron man 3 as well, it was pretty good for what it was aiming to be, entertainment, but nonetheless i enjoyed it alot and loved the use of the song 'im blue' in introducing the 2000's era.

8/10

also i saw hanna on a recommendation from a friend and just wow... it's basically what i would seek for in an ultimate movie, it almost makes leon: the professional look rather amateur just if you start comparing them, which is very easy to do. The fight scenes were brilliant, everything was just executed 100% on point. anyone would love this film imo.

9.5/10

hanna is sweet. it is a bit like leon, but far more polished and it also gave me a strong psychedelic impression (not just the mushroom house scene). leon is meant to be gritty. they each have their strenghts, i think.

not the least of which is the original score by the chemical brothers (which in my opinion is better than their last album).

I thought Hanna was better than Leon: The Professional. Both films are pretty lackluster in their stories, but Hanna had style and a killer score.

Both stories are more than sufficient. Don't forget, besson is the king of modern action.

That's true. I'm a huge fan of the Arthur and the Invisibles trilogy.

EDIT: Just finished re-watching The Human Condition (over the week, not in one sitting) and....jeez guys...this movie is really really good. It's got just about everything you could possibly want from a quality film.
