This movie was so much fun to watch. If you haven't seen it and you're a fan of movies involving time-travel, check it out.

Man on the Moon

i'm not a fan of biopics. this one is alright. it held my attention, and at the end i thought "whatever." certainly no Loves of a Blonde.

The Limits of Control

i'm not a fan of jim jarmusch films. this one is alright. probably because it's so quiet. i think it throws a nod to Contempt when paz de la huerta asks about her ass. the scene of her sleeping against him is the film's only shining moment.

Fanny and Alexander - This 5+ hour film depicts various episodes of the lives of members of the wealthy and influential Ekdahl family.

Honestly, this movie felt longer to me than the 9 1/2 hour Human Condition that I watched last weekend. The meat of the story, like most Bergman films of the time, deals with family and marital issues as a platform for (Bergman's typical) themes of Love, God, and Identity. The camera work is fantastic, the acting is phenomenal (one scene in particular made me tear up), and the script is a good as you could hope for. Still, the pace is slow and the drama is subtle (for the most part). I liked what I saw but I won't be returning for a second viewing any time soon.

Be advised that Legend of the Overfiend is horror hentai, but it's the type of hentai anthropologists write about in academic journals (seriously) and was an *ahem* seminal film believe it or not. I watched the first installment of the -- I think five part -- series the first time in high school high and on DXM.

This was in the late 1990s so it was quite a shock to see something like that in such a state. It's easy enough to laugh at some parts if you start off with that intent, and others even if you don't, but analyzed from a certain perspective I'd say it could be defended as original and artistically transgressive pulp. Some versions are censored, which is really stupid, especially for animation, so look for the one that's not.

I watched the first episode and it was a bit much. I dunno how much tentacle porn I can handle. Although the premise was pretty intriguing and I may return to it again soon. I just feel like I've gone a bit too far with my interest in exploring anime/manga. I don't think I'm ever going to find anything as satisfying as Death Note. Which I highly recommend if you've not seen it.

Wow, great film. The cinematography is superb throughout; every shot is like a painting from that period. Seemed very authentic for a period drama, was well paced, and very engaging. Quite a long film, but the time passed with ease. Definitely up there with The Madness of King George. Kubrick nailed it. Can see why it's Scorsese's favourite of his.

Rec 3

A couple's wedding day turns into a horrific events as some of the guests start showing signs of a strange illness.

It starts like one of those found footage deals but that ends after 20 minutes. its all in subtitles but its a damn fine movie. but i cant make a determination of what the things actually are

^ Have you seen Rec and Rec 2? I'm pretty sure Rec 2 is dedicated to explaining the nature of the monster/zombie/demon things.

Death Note is a great supernatural detective story, and I'm not surprised that if that's what you're seeking in anime that you've found Legend of the Overfiend a bit left field. My fascination with LOTOF is psychological and anthropological -- it doesn't possess any of the "speculato-deductive" charms of Death Note. It is, thoroughly, a beast.

Yes, and it's my favorite of the series.

Well...they explain it, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. At least, it didn't make much sense to me. Maybe you'll be able to figure WTF is going on with those things.

if i were prezdent, i'd make it mandatory to speak the english language from barry lyndon.

last night it was "oh brother; where art thou". love the coen brothers, and this film did not disappoint. clooneys character was both charming and highly entertaining.

...kytnism...:|

for some reason, i could never get into this one. might try again.

^ Then get out, n00bs. This thread is for people who actually watch movies.

The Virgin Spring - A young, beautiful virgin is raped on her way to deliver candles to a local church.

At first I thought this film bore a striking resemblance to 'The Last House on the Left', then Wikipedia confirmed that it is basically a gritty, terrible remake of The Virgin Spring. The movie didn't leave much of an impression on me (which is atypical for a Bergman film), but the cinematography and acting is still noteworthy (which is completely typical for a Bergman film).

the first half of avatar, eyegasming at my new 3d tv. i'm finding it more obnoxious than in the cinema :D

^You just wanted to brag about your 3D television. I'm on to you, pal.

This movie had a great concept and could have easily been a fun, supernatural Boondock Saints, but failed miserably. Uneven, annoying characters, subplots that go absolutely nowhere and an ending that is too stupid to describe. These are three good reasons to avoid The Revenant like a girl with a cold sore, standing under the mistletoe.
