^I loved Statham in Snatch and Lock, Stock, but had written his newer movies off as generic Hollywood explodey shooty type action films before I ever saw them. Maybe I should give them a look?
 
I watched Finding Vivian Maier the other night (finally). I want a lot of her photographs now.

The movie was good, too bad it had Swedish subtitles and I have no idea what they were saying during an integral part of it. Hmph. She was a crazy old bat, though. A talented bat. No bat emoji.

I'm good at talking about movies.

Those was actually almost my exact sentiments as I had enjoyed Snatch and Lock, Stock, but everything else seemed generic action movie. I didn't really have any reason to make such an assumption about the films since I never had bothered to watch any. So I felt that if I was going to rag on those movies I might as well check them out first. Honestly they're not the greatest films, but they were better than I had expected. I think majority of action movies have generic and clichéd elements, but it's hard to always have original storylines. I did watch a fourth film of his,Blitz, which was also ok. Like I mentioned in the other post, Parker was my favorite of the ones I watched.

Since I watch movies so often I like to watch a diversity of movies. With such a variety of choices I usually will watch depending on my mood and the movies availability. These movies had matched my mood perfectly. I had wanted to see some action movies that were fairly decent, but that I didn't have to really pay a lot of attention to or put in a lot of thought. These satisfied that need and I would actually check out a few more of his movies. There's actually another one on Crackle, Revolver that has Statham and was also directed by Guy Ritchie (who did Snatch and Lock, Stock). Going to try to check that one out while it's available on there.

I thought this was alright. I think maybe I didn't like it as much because it was kind of a heavy storyline and I probably wasn't in the right mindset to watch it at the time. Cate Blanchett played her role really well though. There were parts where you just wanted to slap her, but a lot of other parts where you felt really bad for her.

Watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) last night. Really enjoyed it a lot. It was funny, imaginative, and had a lot of heart. Found it to be light and uplifting. Ben Stiller did a good job with the dual job of directing and acting. Seemed to have good chemistry with Kristen Wiig as well. One of the better movies I've seen this year.

Revolver actually sounds extremely familiar. Before a quick google, I figured it might have an an earlier Ritchie film like the other two, but apparently this is a little newer. Vincent Pastore and Ray Liotta, too? Interesting....

And? What's your point? None of them are on Netflix Instant. Putting in any effort to try and watch the films would have defeated the purpose.

its funny you should make that comment, as i was highly distracted whilst watching walter mitty and unable to fully apply myself to it and hated it (even though it was a film i knew i would otherwise love); but the stop start resume distraction killed it for me. im yet to rewatch it but am positive that ill like it if i have the time to sit, relax and just watch it.

youre right about the intensity of blue jasmine, but i think thats what i loved about it. similar to all woody allen films youre taken on an emotional rollercoaster that really has no great meaning or profound wisdom in the end, youre simply there to be apart of the life experience? i had to watch it twice to appreciate it for what it was.

Hannibal Rising, not much to say about it really, a must-see if one is a fan of Hannibal Lecter.

Nymphomaniac: Vol. I

the lighting in her apartment is cool. white light from white lamps on white walls. with a little bit of that paul thomas anderson effect. reminded me of Phenomena. the main characters share traits as well.

the film is not about the lighting in her apartment. instead a bunch of ugly, pretentious nonsense. lots of pubic hair.

^ yeah those two films meh'd me to death, but i did sit through both for the artistry alone. i guess nymphomania doesn't engage with me like depression does. i fkn loved melancholia.

the last two films of note that i saw both disappointment me.

actioners are often associated with low quality thrills, but that is not the case every time.
