Film What's the Last Film You Saw? v. Tell Us What You Thought!

I think the first one would be my fave too but it loses a lot cause half of it is spent explaining/finding out.

Isn't a lot of the fun finding stuff out? I feel like there's more explanation that gets kind of tiresome and more convoluted in reloaded/revolutions

The Leprechaun movies bring back some memories. I recall some good times laughing at those movies with a good friend back in the day. I don't know if they were exactly cinematic masterpieces but they where entertaining back in the day. =D

I'm taking a break from movies & binging AMC's "Into the Badlands" on Netflix. I figure I've tended to watch a movie with dinner for quite some time & should give some TV shows a chance. I've watched way more movies than shows. Seeing as it seems like long form shows have gotten more prevalent & to be of a higher quality I thought it was time to give some of them a chance. :)

Rewatched Cabin Fever: Patient Zero because I have a low-key obsession with NF.
Honestly, it isn't that good but I still like it and the gore at the end is pretty good. I just wish they'd make a sequel where there's a lot more focus on the disease and it's progression. And I didn't like the lack of pain element? I mean, a girl is walking around with all of her muscles and tendons exposed like it's nothing. I understand where necrotic flesh causes no pain because it's dead, but the rest of the tissue would cause agony.
3 stars because at least it isn't Cabin Fever 2 *spits*

Climax - 2 stars - really wanted to like this and really didn't. The first 15 minutes with the character introductions and dance scene are interesting and then...meh. The story follows about 20 dancers isolated during a snowstorm in a dance studio while they party. Someone has spiked the sangria with highly potent LSD and a living nightmare ensues for all when it kicks in halfway through the movie. A lot of boring conversations take place in the first part of the movie and when the LSD finally kicks in...it just isn't worth it. It does bring out the worst in everybody (the "pregnant bullying" is nasty) but it's still very uneventful. Part of my disappointment may be due to it being marketed as a horror which is most definitely isn't.

Suspiria (2019) - 3.5 stars - I don't really remember the original other than I think I liked it. I wanted to like this and did through almost all of it...but the end just felt convoluted and didn't really make sense. I'm still not sure what actually happened if anyone cares to enlighten me? The makeup job of Tilda Swinton as an elderly man really is amazing, though. You'd NEVER know it wasn't an elderly male actor. She apparently actually played three characters and I still don't know who the third was.
It had some cool scenes for sure, and was actually chilling in places. Overall worth a watch, just please don't listen to people likening it to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining.

I think the original Leprechaun was Jennifer Aniston's first starring role. Those movies really scared me as a kid until I learned that the titular Leprechaun was just Warwick Davis in a costume and now I can't take them seriously haha.
Strange you should mention it; I just watched Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood this week.

I thought the Suspiria remake was lame, personally. The original wasn't even that great TBH, a few memorable set-pieces (like the film's opening) and a good soundtrack, but other than that it really dragged (the remake was true to the original in that respect anyway). Tenebre was better. I'm a big fan of the Italian film-making of that era like Fulci, Martino, Soavi, Bava etc...

I believe you are correct. ;) I recognized Warwick Davis as being the guy from Willow & took it as comedy. 😆 As Warwick Davis just reminds me of watching Willow with my sister when I was young. That is strange indeed! I watched that same film Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood within the last few weeks as well. =D

Watched the latest Star Wars movie Rise of the Skywalker. 3/5. Oh dogs what a movie.

Aren't they all? I've only seen one. It was either Episode 2 or Episode 5 (the middle movie in the trilogy that came out around the late 90s). I seen it at the cinema and hated it. I was SO bored. I am planning on giving the series a try in the right order though because a lot of people tell me the one I've seen is the worst.

I watched Oculus. Avoided it for a while because I thought it was PG-13 (as a rule, PG-13 horror movies are almost always terrible) but then discovered I was wrong. It was a cool story but kinda slow.

'Parasite' was abit exhausting but worth it, my eyes dried up just a little.

Before that 'The Joker' (Joaquim Phoenix) and 'Mary and Max' both top knotch movies.

Parasite is on my watch list I just hadn't gotten to it due to binging 'Into the Badlands' (which I enjoyed, :)). I plan on watching it before to long it just seemed drier than I was looking for last night. I considered watching it but settled on 'Good Time Max'. It definitely wasn't the comedy that for some reason it was listed as but I enjoyed the film. I thought the ending line was appropriate. I find many endings quite disappointing but I was pleasantly surprised by the two I just mentioned. The endings seemed to fit. (y) 'Good Time Max' was a decent film but don't go into it expecting a comedy. It may be a "drug" related film but not a drug related comedy (How High, Cheech & Chong, Etc.).

Go for it, I was hesitant at first but someone mentioned it. So I dove in.
Parasite is so not dry.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not that familiar with 'Parasite' outside of knowing the director. My wife & I enjoyed 'Snowpiercer' considerably. I don't think she has much interest in 'Parasite' though. I'm surprised she enjoyed Snowpiercer TBH. She doesn't really do movies in general outside of maybe some Sci-Fi stuff she likes but I digress. I also have Okja on my watch list but haven't gotten to it. Actually now that I think on it; IIRC he also did 'Mother'? If so I also have that on my watch list. 😆

I enjoy a good amount of non-English content. I'm a big Park Chan-wook fan. The 'Vengeance' trilogy is one of the few possessions I don't plan on tossing / donating when I move. Those & my Takashi Miike films. Some good memories & nostalgia associated with them. 😁

As for the last movie I watched; I was in the mood for something relatively mindless last night. I watched 'Den of Thieves'. As for the film it was decent. It fit the relatively mindless bill quite nicely; at least. =D ;)
