not sure how well known they are but nobody i know has heard of this amazing band called the black heart procession...they put out great records but the one that sticks out to me is Amore del Tropico. check em out
Any fans of classic style blues based rock (stones, aerosmith) should check out Izzy Stradlin's (ex Guns N' Roses rhythm guitarist) solo albums. He's put out 9 or 10. They're real chill and really badass. There's even a few reggae songs. Great albums to put on in the background for smoke sessions.
"Guitar virtuoso Tim Reynolds and Chapman Stickist/saxophonist Greg Howard's first recording. Available in October 2001 for the first time on CD. These improvisations characterize the evolutionary path of the world. Some abstract, some agressively grooving. Recorded without overdubs. Some of Tim's absolute best electric guitar work, and a rare recording of Greg on alto sax. 10 tracks, total time 58:13. Packaged in cardstock sleeve. Engineered by Greg Howard, Produced by Tim and Greg."
"short stuff" by short stuff, '75 or '76 i think. out of wisconsin, funky blues kinda like the fabulous thunderbirds. always liked "if bad luck was money."
i know there's a copy in a box somewhere around here. def

really good meshuggah/deftones/tool vibe music with all clean vocals, almost no screaming. pretty sci-fi in subject nature and tone, lots of electronics and cool vocal effects and great riffs. really worth checking out, there's a song player on the link above.
