Not to come off as a snobbut.... I feel that psychedelics can be a "challenging" high in that they involve your mind. That's pretty much the main reason why I choose psychedelics. I don't like drugs that don't include this mental aspect. Out of all the others I have tried, psychedelics give me all the same effects (euphoria, energy, sociability) plus the visuals and duration are a huge bonus for me. But then again I have limited experience with most other chemicals.
My explanation I think would come off as pretentious to someone who say.. does a lot of coke.
My guess is that it's something similar to this? Sometimes (some) psychedelics are called things like 'medicine for the soul' or 'sacraments' instead of drugs which I agree with when it comes to compounds like DMT... maybe the idea that these are not just drugs, not just chemicals that mess up the way your brain works, that can be called 'snobby' or perhaps 'elitist' ?
Why are you asking here though... is it not way more helpful to ask anywhere BUT in PD? I'd be happy to move this to the lounge or wherever it might be the most 'common'.
