I agree

Ive seen bits of the wire, never properly got into it. the sorpanos drew my attention away at the time

A lot of episodes were very slow and packed with details, but they were all laying the ground for the action packed episodes that were to come. It goes into incredible detal. Each series focusses on the scene from a different angle, the drugs squad surveillance and information gathering angle, the dockyard/distribution angle, the media angle, the political angle, the dealers angle, the users angle, etc etc. It all comes together though. Thats not a spolier its a summary, i hope. Its well worth watching in its entirety. It deserved the huge critical acclaim and cult status it achieved.

For the first few episodees i couldnt work out who was who, as there were so many characters being introduced, but it all started coming together after a while. Its an incredibly in depth fly on the wall take on the whole scene, praised for its totally realistic feeling. The kids round here still shout "5-0" when they see a police car. I bet they dont even know ehere that phrase came from. :D

I've just finished downloading the full 5 series of Breaking Bad - took about 36 hours to download 20GB, over a mobile dongle no less! Never seen any of BB yet, but I've heard nothing but good reports. Just gotta find time to watch it all now...

ive got mad love for Jesse Yo. Seriously, that dude rocks yo.

Same. Loved him from the off. Altho Walt is an ace character, I don't empathise with him one bit really.

People keep saying what a badass he was turning into and he seemed to be most people's fave, but Jesse was always a badass, but with a clear set of ethics which he stuck to from day 1.

I like the contrast between the two characters when they're put in extreme situations. Stereotypewise, most people would probably expect a middle class, suburban school teacher to behave with superiour ethics to a drop-out druggy, yet the series has always known that's not always the case and Jesse had a much greater empathy streak than Walt all the way thru, that he was consistent with, and it never left him. Walt just became more horrific each day.

And even though Walt's supposed to be the smart one, when shit hits the fan big time, and Jesse's left hurt or disappointed, Jesse always comes up trumps with a plan to save the situation and do one better than Walt. I think that shows he's not as naturally, or instinctually manipulative as Walt, it just kicks in when he really needs it to, and he causes less collateral damage than Walt too.

Jesse is my number 1 favourite character from any TV show I think. Because he's just so fucking beautiful inside and out.

My fave episode is in series 2, where Walt didn't even feature and Jesse's at the prostitutes house with the stolen ATM machine trying to get it open. The interaction between Jesse and the little boy was a perfect example of Jesse's true nature. As well as the episode being fucking hilarious at the same time.

Just finished season 5 of Breaking Bad, was quite surprised at how grim the last few episodes were! The writers really took a dark turn, liked it though.

Good film on CH.5 tonight at 22.10 with Michael Caine 'Harry Brown'.
He plays a retired marine living a law abiding existence on a South London estate, until his best friend is killed by a local gang.
Worth a watch if you haven't seen it already.

oh i did especially in season 1, when Walt was suffering from his illness and treatemensts, and when he got 'the talking cushion' to talk about how he felt. I thought that was extremely moving. I also liked him when bought the stereotypical drug dealers flashy car, like a big overgrown schoolboy. But I'd have done the same, so that worked IMO.

spoliers

NSFW:
I loved it when walt shaved his head and walked in with that bomb substance to that dealers lock up, the first few times he turned psycho were absolutely thrilling and brilliant, the more it happened the less admirable he became though, and yeah more of a cold maniplulative monster. Jessie allways had a good heart, i was heartbroken for him during all his heart broken moments. I havent finsished S5 yet so no spoilers please. ;)

I was watching Hostages the other night and genuinely couldn't tell if it's meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek or what. Like I was pissing myself laughing at some points because it was just so obvious what was going to happen, and so cliche. Decent TV tho, kept me watching til the end.

I think Omar Little from The Wire is mine.

SPOILERS AS TO WHY
NSFW:
Because he had such a fearsome reputation that he allways delivered on, because he was so 'badass', because he was so fearless and brave, because of his secret love
. Several of the characters from The Walking dead too; Rick, Darryl, Michone, Merle, Hershell.

Al Swearengen

Just noticed his name is basically Al Swear Engine. Can't believe I didn't pick up on that before cos he certainly is =D

He even has his own highlight reel. Great show was Deadwood. Shame they never made the last series and/or film(s) that were planned. Still worth watching the series that were made though - one of my fave of these big US dramas. Oz being another fave. Great characters? How's about...
