whats a better experience acid or shrooms

what's better, apples or oranges?

Neither has made me see things that aren't actually there. I prefer LSD to mushrooms personally.

I far preffer LSD to shrooms. Much more colourful and interesting kind of trip IME. Have tried acid about 4 times, mushrooms just once, didn't enjoy them tbh.

They have similarities since they both utilize similar receptor complexes but have there own unique effects. Ive done shrooms numerous times and lsd maybe half as many. Only two or 3 of those lsd experiences i knew it was lsd and the effects backed that up. The other doses i did i do not believe were lsd. As an overall entertainment trip experience i prefer lsd. Its a fun experience thats also mind opening and makes me very creative. I get hallucinations and perceptual distortions on lsd that are more profound but i get more mental and social insight on shrooms, mainly social insight. As far as the paranoia goes its pretty equal. I get more axiety from lsd and more euphoria from shrooms. For me shroom hallucinations are more like the brains background noise coming up front. Nice closed eye visuals from both. My two cents

Neither of those drugs makes you "see shit that's not really there"

and you can't even compare them really, you can either enjoy both, or one or the other, or neither.

I wish there were a smiley-icon for smacking someone with a wet noodle!

I like them BOTH for different reasons, times and places.

Depending on dosage, set and setting, BOTH can cause neither, either, or both of the visual effects you mention, despite what TNT said.

How to we add a poll to this thread or make a new one asking "Has either LSD (Yes/No) or Shrooms (Yes/No) led you to seeing shit that wasn't really there?"

Should be pretty interesting, actually to see the resulting numbers!

it depends on your definition of "there", i had the feeling the OP was referring to full blown hallucinations like with DMT or datura where you actually see shit that isn't there as opposed to the melting/morphing/swirling images and CEVs i usually experience on shrooms/lsd. neither of those drugs has ever made me "see something that wasn't there", like seeing a person or an object out of thin air? that's never happened

Once early on in my tripping career, I did 2 hits of some already pretty strong LSD for the first time. While sitting next to the doorway of totally dark room, flipping through records stacked nearby, I got a growing senseof being watched. With dread I suddenly looked to my right, into what I know was a totally black room, to see what appeared to be an african mask of a face, size of a normal human head floating mid-room, in brightly painted colors, it had eyes that were glancing back and forth and a mouth that was slightly moving, as if it were trying to speak.

My first time on Mushrooms, a strong 3.5g dose, EVERY SURFACE IN THE ROOM, reguarless of if it was flat, curved, solid color or already had a design on it was COVERED with interconnected glowing neon parallel lines that bent at the edges of outlines to fill every shape with repeated designs, these hallucinated neon tubes each and every one was filled with gleaming bright spots that were all flowing along inside these non-existent glowing tubes I would classify that as so extreme as to be called "seeing something that is not there." There was were these tall doors of a wooden clothes dresser with a faint wood grain pattern. Later, after the neon tubes had faded out, the woodgrain of these doors, as I watched morphed and shifted in a rather mesmerizing fashion from a random wood grain pattern into a single large bearded Jesus-like face, which was animated, and gazed at me knowlingly and benificently, smiling. We looked at each other for a few minutes, then without warning, it un-morphed back into the wood grain outlines. I would definitely call THAT seeing something that is not there.

So there are examples from both drugs. I've also, dont recall on which drug, but I clearly remember once on a hefty dose, along with a bunch of very strong hash and some percussive hypnotic music, I had been looking at a vase on top of a TV which was off... dim colored lights in the room... stared at it for a little bit, and watched as it melted, but then reformed from the blob of pulsating color into the form of a miniature lion or some other big cat and started pacing back and forth on top of the TV set looking over at me as it did so... My eyes got itchy from staring without blinking for so long, so I rubbed them and when I looked back, it was a vase again. I think that qualifies as "shit that isnt really there."

Not like a constant visual field that completely\ replaces reality with 100% hallucination like I read DMT can do, but definitely does happen simetimes to me.

And of course on both drugs, closing your eyes for a while, especially listening to music, seeing all manner of "stuff that is not really there" replacing what should just be the black insides of your eyeballs with anything from kaleidoscopes to animated Aztek circuit diagrams, to mountains/cities/planetscapes/alien forests.

Read FAQ but for me on the create new thread page I am apparently not allowed to create a new poll. I guess we can only make polls with ONE selected answer so, it would have to be 2 polls, one each for LSD and Shrooms, asking, "Only answer this if you have used one or the other or both of these substances. Have you ever clearly seen seen "things that are not there" (distorted outlines, shifting colors etc do not count), but seeing an object that is really there undergo a complete transformation into a different object does count) while doing either LSD or Mushrooms? (for Closed Eyes, vague geometric patterns do not count, but objects or things like faces, people, animals, landscape or architectural elements do count)"

LSD
- Have never done it
- Done but never saw "Stuff That Was Not Really There"
- Done and YES, Open Eyes
- Done and YES, Closed Eyes
- Done and YES, Both

MUSHROOMS:
...same set of questions...

Is this too elaborate? Are the definitions acceptable? Can someone with the necessary account privileges create such a poll?

Oh, I guess to filfill the original question, also "On which drug have you ever had any incident of a bad trip, defined as feelings, hallucinations or thoughts that are sufficiently difficult/frightening/unpleasant that it caused you to feel that taking the drug was a negative experience that you wish you had not done, and that you hoped would end as soon as possible, even if this feeling later went away and you felt better, any duration of wishing you could go back in time and UN-TRIP, constitutes a "bad trip"... i.e., one that you strongly wish you had NOT taken"

I guess this fails to cover "bad trips that you are glad you took." Wow, now THAT sounds like a VERY interesting topic of general discussion.

OK, so to simplify things, since what was asked was a COMPARISON...

Answer ONLY if you have used both drugs, please answer both questions:

Which is MORE likely to cause bad trips you wish you had NOT taken and would "un-take" if you could:
- Never had this kind of bad trip on either
- LSD
- Mushrooms
- Both equally likely to cause a "bad" "bad trip"

Which is MORE likely to cause a "bad trip" that you would go ahead and take anyway when all was said and done, due to some redeeming or educational or transformational or cathartic quality that you felt on balance was more of a learning or positive experience than merely a pure episode of terribleness, one where the "growth inducing" properties outweighed the "totally pointless fear" properties:
- Never had this kind of "bad trip" on either
- LSD
- Mushrooms
- Both equally likely to case a "good" "bad trip"

Does any of this make sense? Would it be interesting to hear the answers to from a wide number of PD contributors?

Shit this is getting more complicated that at first it might appear. I have a newfound respect for people who write polls!

less likely to have a bad trip and id much rather see shapes morph and stuff like that then see shit thats not really there

Psychedelics don't make you see people or objects that aren't there, they produce visual and audio distortions rather than full on hallucinations. What you're thinking of is deliriants.

So either one will be good for you in that sense, as for which is more likely to result in a bad trip, it really depends on you.

In my experience psychedelics aren't really for you if you just want visuals, there is much more to psychedelics than visuals.

If you just want visuals then play around with: http://www.neave.com/strobe/ all day.

well i read most posts.
All i gotta say is that i used to use very good acid quite alotand it was great till i had a bad trip .even after that i would do it and always start with a bad trip then slowly get back into the groove.
As far as whats better ???
I have had shrooms that were as good as acid, though ussualy they arent,it depends on how much blue ya get on yer shrooms ,the mexican shrooms i had were small and all blue takeing one gram was like doing a hit of good acid.
they were equaly as strong.
But that was the only time i had shrooms as good as acid.
Though i had a QP and they lasted along time.
So bothe cid and shrooms are good equaly in the same strength proportionat to the strength of the shrooms as well as the strength of the acid, persay you have 1 very good hit of cid ,it may take 3 or 4 grams of good shrooms with a fair amount of blue to get you to the same place .
Also you do know that acid is also made from shrooms along with a long list of other types of things like agar or mold from wheat etc.
so all in all bother are very good in the rite dose and as long as ya dont have a bad trip....

Visually, I've never had much more than color visuals and defined texture/light with LSD.

With shrooms, I usually only get distortions like bending or movement. But one time recently I got to take 2g's of some cultivated mushies (i've taken over 10+ before), and for some reason it hit me harder than any psychedelic has before (closely compared to breakthroughs with DMT). One example, almost everything I looked at for longer than 2 or 3 seconds transformed into a person or people. I was laying in a tent underneath a blanket and when I looked forward at part of the blanket it turned into two girls dancing. Eventually they stopped and started laughing & pointing at me, but I couldn't hear their voices. But suddenly their faces stretched and turned almost demonic like the mummies in the mummy returns

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:46&biw=1280&bih=800).

Then they just disappeared.

Idk why that happened just off of 2g's, but I would say go with mushies if you are looking for visuals because they've gotten me the farthest between the 2.

I value LSD more because it's created by people, I have a whole feel for the scene and i've studied it extensively, mushrooms have taken me deeper and into more immersive trips, even with more visuals, but LSD is just...riskier socially :D
