Whatcha Drinking? v. Drunk Driver: "Don't make me stupid"

Anyone else seem to get a banging hangover from anything at all purchased from LIDL? There own brand Bourbon put me off whiskey for life (not a bad thing). And their Lager has me bed ridden the next day.

This is true. Their bourbon is propper rough, Morrisons own brand is cheaper and seems easier on the constitution, but not really a massive fan of American whiskies at the best of time. Canadian Club is lush though.

Drinking ribena right now then cracking open a bottle of red when 6 rolls by - nowt special.

Reading this thread in the last few days has made me subconsciously venture to Lidl, and today I bought a few bottles of the new Crabbie's to try. Now I see you're discussing rum. I literally just got back from Tescunts where I bought this:

I'm not a rum drinker at all, but I'm a sucker for a snazzy design and this was just asking to be bought. I couldn't really afford it, but just had my first shot and it's very nice. I'll definitely be getting it again.

The Kraken is a bit gimmicky, but is very nice, how much is it now it's on offer? You should drink the Kraken from the bottle, looping your finger through one of the parts of the handle at the top, before passing it to your shipmate who loops his/her finger through the other side to take a swig :D

Pirat rum is fucking xcellent too, my favourite, bt very pricey.

Don't be mixing coke with these fuckers though, Lidl provides "rum" for that prurpose.

Bugger, should have gone to Sainsburys. Got mine from Tesco £22.50.

@ Mailmonkey - yeah, it is a bit gimmicky I guess. I must admit it was the bottle which caught my eye initially, but all the reviews I read before buying it were good so thought I'd take a chance when I saw it. It's nice. No need to mix it which is even better in my books. Still drinking it. Better stop soon-ish.

I not dissing you for the gimmicky thing, me, wife and couple of mates had a bottle last year, passing it round from hand to hand, shouting YEEARRGHHHH etc. I've even found a photo of me wife wearing a pirate hat that night, and a mate waving round a Nerf flintlock...don't get much more gimmicky than the MM household when anything vaguely pirate related comeson the horizon ;)

(Havana Club Gold is on offer at Sainsbury's, brother in law just texted me, lol , didn'tsay how much though)

you might just be a bit of a wuss. ;)

(Welcome to site ;) )

Cheers mate... could be. Verging on daily boozing so I'm not sure.

People praise their Grafenwalder because it supposedly brews to the all holy Reinheitsgebot. Gives me a powerful hangover all the same.

i've had that Grafenwalder before in a small keg, i thought it as pretty good for a cheap beer. i've only had that and the vodka from lidl, i can't remember which brand but it is a blue top german vodka. it was decent enough as a mixer.

i'm going to try out the captain james death rum soon

Nice, that's defo on the shopping list next time I get some cash spare.

Looks nice but I don't like spending that much on booze at one time, I end up drinking it too quickly anyway.

I'm sure Lidl rum is just water, ethanol, and caramel. does fine as a mixer.

A mixer for what?

i don't like apple magners either, only bought it because it was on special offer...has a really weird synthetic pear drop taste. eww.

All Magners is shite. Same with Bulmers and all the other generic tasting commercial ones. Fizzy piss.

I thought you meant you used Lidl rum as a mixer for other drinks, I wondered what ones.

Never had this myself. Don't sell it here in the north of ireland. Might be a good thing. Its not white cider is it?

it is not white cider no... but it is 8.5% it is as strong. it does have a taste of fizzy no frills out of date apples which is acquired quickly when you realise its capability to twat you. it is probably the nicest tasting cheap strong cider, if you drink 4 cans of it which is usually the cheapest deal at the off licence and you're outside you'll probably end up getting an ASBO. it's that kind of drink. tramps love it, teenage street delinquents love it. i love it.
