Dragon Stout's fairly big around here too. I'm surprised it's not more widespread.

On a beer geekery note, the versions of Foreign Extra brewed outside Dublin (notably the Nigerian version, which contains sorghum) are far nicer than the Dublin variety. The Nigerian used to be more widely available until Guinness noticed the sales outstripped the Dublin product several times over and stopped a major importer from competing with them through an injunction.

The Belgian Special Export Guinness is probably the absolute best though. Really lovely. I'll shut up now because not only am I boring people but this is supposed to be a dry day in my booze diary.

I think it originated with large expat / military communities in Africa demanding Guinness back when the logistics of global distribution weren't quite the same and the beer wouldn't have survived the long sea journey. Subsequently the drink became popular with the indigenous people and it moved on from there.

The Nigerian version's so different because of restrictions on the importation of barley malt into Nigeria, whose government promotes the cultivation of sorghum. So they use sorghum alongside the malted barley, balancing out the bitterness somewhat.

Okay, I really will stop now. I can so easily get on one when it comes to booze.

the orange one.festivals and forigen holidays i love them.stick them in the freezer before i go to festivals then put them in a cooler bag,just magic first thing before ye get out of the sleeping bag.

think im going to have that glass of wine.i got the will power of a blue lighter =D

"Draught Guinness" :( yeah that canned shite, me wife saw some on offer, I don't mind a bottle of Guinness now and then, but this caned "draught" is pish :(

It's still gonna get drunk though :D

I had one beer tonight and then I said no thanks. Now having a diet coke. Whooo.
 
Some Bourbon called Seven Oaks I bought when I was back in Germany. It's real nice, and it was fairly cheap too, but then again most of the whiskey there was, at least compared to here in Poland.
 
I bought a bottle of wine yesterday and had 1 small glass of it then didn't drink anymore, was knackered. Will drink it tonight.
 
I don't think there will be any middle ground in this answer.... I think Spade will either drink cheap pish or really expensive, snobbery type stuff!

It was a bottle of cheap rose, I never buy expensive wine. I tend to go for whatever is on offer in the Co-op, either red or rose. This bottle was about £3.99.
