That's a great idea dan, altho I highly suspect that PTCH would take great pains to sneak some meat into a veggie meal for me :sus:

I don't know what greeting means in the context you just wrote. this must be a scottish thing.

greeting = weeping/blarting.

I couldn't do a come dine with me with a veggie. Thats a no-no. Maybe allow one veggie course.

ahh.. greeting sounds like bleating? .. same thing kinda then

MM: it's not too difficult to do a preprepared veggie single portion as alternative to whatever meat course you were gonna do surely. doesn't even have ta go with whatever everyone else is having. no need to go for a whole veggie course for everyone

M & S pasta bake in the microwave if necessary ... or slow cooker job with some peppers and courgettes and do a ratatouille with some chick peas ...

@ kate: yup. 50/50 chance I'm gonna cave and go to the shop and get some wine with money I haven't got. I've been fantasising about a jar of marshmallow fluff I've got in the cupboard. I want a fluffernutter. not sure that counts as food in the kate stakes tho =D

need to buy some peanut butter and bread for that tho

Fluffnutter sounds bloody lush Marmz. Especially if its sandwiched between 2 pancakes (read drop scones you english poodles) You know the inside of tunnocks teacakes? - i want that mashmallow in a jar, nothing ever comes close. actually I'd eat a packet or 2 of teacakes right now too...still fuck the fuck up with the blood sugar level, makes me into an even moodier bitch than normal.

You read hungry...have you no carbs in the cupboards you can rustle up and then sleep on? Keep you away from that wine for one more day? Sleepy nice lovely carbs ;)

<3

I saw some of that in the supermarket the other day Marmz, looks disgusting =D

I got some jam that was on offer, its Bonne Maman Berries & Cherries and its good on toast. You could still get 3 jars of robinsons for the same price though, but thats quite sweet and this isn't. Nice jar too.

I eat comfort food all year round to be honest but it definitely increases this time of year. Just laying down a decent covering for winter, we're only mammals after all :)

No carbs whatsoever in the cupboard, just soups and canned stuff like chickpeas n tomatoes n whatnot

Tunnocks tea cakes are my fave .. absolute fave. and this fluff is exactly the same as tunnocks marshmallow

I like tunnocks so much in fact that I sent a little parcel in the mail this week, and had bought some to put inside, and I had to replace the box THREE times because I kept eating them ... didn't send any in the end* ...

Those little pancakes would work definitely .. and if they're warm, even better .. would fuse perfectly

I'll mail you some fluff at some point if you want some (both of you, you know you need some B&W!).. I use it as a secret ingredient for making home-made fudge... it's perfect in it. I make orange, mint and double chocolate flavoured fudge as Xmas pressies, 80% decent chocolate too ..

*sorry you! :(

We should be bloody hibernating with a well stocked Nigella like larder for when we waken up for a snack.

Edit: Marmz I feel a make marshmallow at home challenge coming on! That could keep me going for weeks in experimentation. Its soon tablet season here too. You'd like Scottish tablet, I can tell.

You can tour Tunnocks factory up here...if you're ever passing I'm sure that would make a splendid girls day out xxx

Well I like teacakes marmz, so maybe I'm being hasty :)

Isn't fudge hard to make? I remember this gay bloke i know deciding to make it as presents in a mad panic on christmas eve, buying shit loads of stuff, borrowed camping electric stoves for mass production and the stuff never set. Watching him in desparation try and spoon dripping melting lumps of sugar into cute cellophane packets made me cry with laughter.

I love fudge. Theres this place in Bath that makes it in big copper pans and you can watch, they send a wee guy out on the street with samples and that combined with the delicious smell works, people crowd in the tiny shop. Really expensive though but soooo good.

Big time into Thai food atm - bit random but ... Yesterday I was eating cheese savory on baked potato and Papaya Salad :D. Was made up the other day as found a Papaya grater (I am that sad).

So had tuna for lunch / then out for Thai and ate way too much. Chicken soup / a minced chicken dish and a dish of prawn and asparagus. Have already prepped for a bbq at the weekend - done one Thai / one Mexican / one Indian style chicken thing.

Get some khao soi on the go mate, delicious thick and creamy chicken noodle curry with soft noodles in the curry, crispy ones on the top and loads of pickled 'stuff' and chilli dip to mix in. My favourite. <3

Nice to see you online pal :) - Sounds lovely and Ill see if it's on the menu the next time Im out and about. I'm desperately trying to get back to Thailand as the food was amazing and piss cheap. I had some of the most amazing food from street vendors for under 2£ - I had (what looked like) grilled baby cuttle fish with a bag of some searingly hot dip for pence per serving ! I bought some grilled green jelly stuff which was very nice - had no idea what it was :D

Aye Thai food is good, I got a bit sick of it on my last trip after 5 months though. It's hard to eat stir fried or curry chicken and pork with rice or noodles three times a day. Not enough variety. Could eat the kebab skewers with the beef or pork and pineapple chunks covered in herbs and chilli sauce every day though. Khao Soi can be hard to get even in Thailand, it's a Northern Thai dish, saw it on sale once in BKK and the only other time was in Chaing Mai when I first sampled it, incredible. If you see it then order it, it's brilliant.

Ive only done Samui / and Bangkok - and as I don't eat pork / beef or lamb so struggled a bit :D. Had some fantastic kebabs though - I have a tub of some very strange stuff. Its a kind of prawn coated in sugar? Ill take a photo and upload it!

I've never seen lamb in Thailand (even the indian restaurants don't usually sell it) and beefs not that common (shame my fave meat too), it's all chicken and pork or seafood (which I don't eat).

Fuck knows what the prawn in sugar thing is all about, never tried it. You know what was my favourite Thai dish but not very common, stir fried venison with mixed peppers in black pepper sauce. Divine!

Come to think about it I never saw a lamb dish either - saw a lot of beef and pork dishes /stocks. I love seafood so was well catered for - a trip to the Thai 'Tescos' is well worth it! Thai fast food = pence per plate :)

Don't remember the name of the dish but it's beef, thai basil leaf, chilli and a peppery gravy, amazing! I might cook some thai food soon if I can get the proper ingredients.

Munching fuck all at the moment but housemate introduced me to a Japanese food shop a few minutes down the road so I'm off there as soon as me phone is charged. Was hell going with her last week and not having any cash.
