Ben Folds - Still Fighting It
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQvk_c_LnUg

I have a fairly large collection of music; the majority of it generally concerned with the depressing aspects of life but it is mostly borne of rage. Lots of chest thumping and posturing about pride.

But Still Fighting It fucks me up every time.
A father's song to his son about the struggle of adolescence.

Everybody knows
It hurts to grow up
And everybody does
It's so weird to be back here
Let me tell you what
The years go on and
We're still fighting it, we're still fighting it
And you're so much like me
I'm sorry

AC Newman - All of my days and all of my days off

Heard this on fbi this afternoon and it stuck with me. Recommendo.

Thunderbolts will strike where they may
Like a drunken master
Like an idea whose time had come
Now I give you my days
All my days

Fever Ray - Fever Ray LP

Karen from The Knife's solo project. Very very good. Kinda like The Knife on a chill pill.

Now it is The Cinematic Orchestra and their fantastic release Ma Fleur. Wish I had seen these guys last year when they were playing.

Recommended.

And now it's The Panics - Cruel Guards LP. I listened to this album and unnatural amount when it came out, but haven't put it on in a few months, so here it is.

Ken Hirai - Pop Star
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=an8ZbPWCTqE

Easily one of the top 5 best J-Pop songs ever.
So ridiculously catchy and upbeat, plus it featured in most Japanese rhythm games since 2006.

There is no happier sounding song than this. Fuck Polyphonic Spree, for srs.

Beck - Everybody's gotta learn sometime

I've been going through the CD of late night mixes tnargus sent me (it made it in one piece this time, B!) and there are some fantastic tracks on there. This one is such a classic and I haven't listened to it for so long.

Change your heart
Look around you
Change your heart
Will astound you
I need your lovin'
Like the sunshine

Pure product - Keep an eye out

Here is the youtube clip, but i'm listening to it LOUD. I bought the cd at the Funkoars gig I went to, they were mad tight.

Gotta get my ticket for Downsyde early next month, might do that tomorrow :)

Joy Division - She's lost control

I watched Control last week and have been on a bit of a JD bent ever since. Really loved the movie. Really love Unknown Pleasures.

Confusion in her eyes that says it all.
She's lost control.
And she's clinging to the nearest passer by,
She's lost control.
And she gave away the secrets of her past,
And said I've lost control again

Go Ahead Now

The Spin Doctors - 'Two Princes'

It's ge'reat to know not whether you
have awful taste
or whether
it's really
a good song.

It's a great song.

Fuck off biters.

Failure - Dirty Blue Balloons
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2Z2QjsmjWM

Cross Nirvana and Stone Temple Pilots vocal-wise, same sort of distorted production but way more varied in their songwriting. That's Failure.

Kept seeing their name come up in a lot of bands' answers when asked "What bands influenced you?" Worth getting their album Fantastic Planet

Sidenote: The song "The Nurse Who Loved Me" by A Perfect Circle is a Failure cover, and the original shits all over APC's attempt.

^ Them's fighting words UnS.
Especially when thrown from someone extolling the virtues of Two Princes.
BRB, listening to the High School Musical 3 soundtrack...

That's one of the funnier things i've read this week :) APC are great in my opinion, but i always (or near always) skip that particular song.

Bon Iver for me at the moment. I will listen to something else this month, i promise.
