360 - Mamma Mia

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fYN6F3GHaM

This track is hillarious, and the clip is pure gold. Its about Bec Cartright :D

Well, maybe not that great :p

I just downloaded a 360 mixtape last night and he is pretty skilled. I'll post the link if anyone wants it (legal, made available by the artist)

Family CoMcert! - Okkusenman!

Japanese punk band turning the Mega Man 2 Dr Wily Stage theme music into a song about regretfully growing old. The description is serious, but the music is awesomely fast paced and hilarious.

the go! team - bottle rocket

Thunder, lightning, strike reminds me of some very good nights with a very fun person who is back in town. The weather is heating up and how can you not be hanging out for Summer when the Go! Team are playing?

I am listening to the JJJ Hip Hop show, every monday night 10-1 :)

I have really really been getting into Aussie hip hop lately, and this show plays a fair bit. But its good to listen to other types of hip hop, they played some spanish stuff before.

Now - its a Roots Manuva track :)

Listening to ...Here's the Rest of Your Life by Chumbawamba

There's not a long that can sustain an interesting song for 13 minutes but the wamba are quite good at it. Here's an excerpt I like:

I hate the things I love being criminalised
I hate the straight-jacket schools I grew up in
I hate MPs, judges and magistrates
I hate being taught to base my life on TV stars
I hate being kept waiting by bureaucrats
I hate wars, and all the people who love them
I hate the idea of living on other people's backs
I hate being filed, registered and classified
I hate being watched and monitored
I hate police
I hate the way you talk down at me
I hate being told what to do
I hate you when you don't listen
I hate the way you distort my sexuality with pornography
I hate the pain we inflict on each other
On animals, and on the Earth
And I hate how love songs have become such cliches
through endless, shallow repetition
Each angry word
Every cynical put-down
Every song is carefully born

conor oberst - I don't want to die (in the hospital)

My friend scored me a ticket to his upcoming show which is awesome. I liked him in Bright Eyes but I really love his new CD.

the tallest man on earth - I won't be found

This man owes a lot to Bob Dylan, but it's still been my album of the day.

I know there is a hollow
I need to fill it with a draft
Of all the words that I wont say
And with a quiet whisper
I send a curse upon the day
That never used the sun to see
The light

Listening to Stuart by the Dead Milkmen.

If I'm ever in need of some cheering up the Dead Milkmen are the band to do it. Fuck I love them and this song. It's kind of set in the character of a redneck rambling about how gay martians are poisoning the soil.

Also I found this really cool video made by someone on youtube. Mostly I don't bother with all the fan video shit on youtube but this is really well mimed and complements the song awesomely.

So everyone should watch it. Seriously, it's like 2:18 of your life. And if you're looking at this it's not like you have anything better to be doing right?

The Replacements - Bastards Of Young

I'm massively late to the table, as my friend just hooked me up with the Tim LP today. Despite coming out in 1985, this entire album sounds like the alt-rock music scene from 1991 to 1996 (especially the Seattle scene).

This is my favourite track off the album, plus a 'fuck you MTV' type video when that sort of gesture was somewhat relevant and fresh.

^ I like that song. Good memories.

king kahn & the shrines - welfare bread

Because I had a kickass weekend and now I can't wait for the long weekend to get here. It's a king kahn kinda night.

I've been listening to some of The Birthday Party. Nick Cave was so incredibly hot in the 80s

the beatles - a day in the life

It's such a cliche to like the beatles, but then I also don't understand anyone who doesn't. A little while ago I was having a conversation with someone new who I liked very much and we got into what music we were liked. I said the Doors and he went on about how Morrison was a pretentious wanker and the most worthwhile thing about him was the myth he created for himself (all true). He said the Beatles. What a cliche. (Can't wait till he gets back to Australia.)

Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
Somebody spoke and I went into a dream

United Nations - Say Goodbye to General Figment of the USS Imagination

United Nations is a 'grindcore/hardcore/-core' supergroup made up of the lead singer of Thursday, the lead singer of Glassjaw, the drummer of Converge and various others that cannot be named due to label contractual commitments.

To be honest, it sounds like Thursday mixed with Converge outros with more screaming, insanely better drumming and moar breakdowns.

Plus this song has a saxophone outro! In a *-core song! Highly recommended to fans of the aforementioned.

The Beatles - I Am The Walrus

Some of the lyrics that John wrote are so unbelievably good that it just isn't funny.
