Marty simpson - Walking out the door

Heard it on my brothers myspace and i like it. He has good taste. Even if it is slightly different to mine.

Billie Holiday - A Fine Romance

Needs no introduction, however she's been slightly ruined for me thanks to David Sedaris' impersonations. COTB will know what I'm on about. :D

Plus these lyrics are pure poetry. Mmmm potato. Good cover.

A fine romance, with no kisses
A fine romance, my friend this is
We should be like a couple of hot tomatoes
But youre as cold as yesterdays mashed potatoes

Business Time - Flight of the Conchords

'and you sort out the recycling
that isn't part of the foreplay process
but it is still very important...
and you know when I'm down to just my socks,
what time it is'

Always puts a smile on my face :)

Oasis - Don't Look Back in Anger

This was the first band I ever really fell in love with. I even got excited when I was watching The Bill and I saw an Oasis poster on the wall of a teenage criminal. This love was fairly quickly squashed when I was in year nine and they cancelled their concert because they're a bunch of angry, fight-y fuckers. I still love them, but I will never forget how they broke my 14 year old heart.

Take me to the place where you go
Where nobody knows, if it's night or day.
Please don't put your life in the hands
Of a Rock 'n Roll band
Who'll throw it all away

That's harsh. The canceled gig that is. I saw them live about 7 years ago. Was freaking amazing. Only complaint was they didn't play a single song off their 1st album (the best in my opinion).

But anyhow, the fact you posted this last night around 8.30 freaks me out. It was about 8.30 last night when my wife said to me "You know what song i haven't heard in a while? Don't look back in anger by Oasis". So I grabbed my guitar and played it.

FREAKINESS. 8o

Listening to a Propagandhi song from the new album called Human(e) Meat (the Flensing of Sandor Katz).

It's about eating this guy who in a book promotes post-vegetarianism, saying something stupid like the only way you can fully relate to an animal is by eating it. Fucking funny, but morbid song!

“I swear I did my best to ensure that his final moments were swift and free from fear. But consideration should be made for the fact that Sandor Katz was my first kill, so I trust the reader will understand that while his screams may well have seemed like conscious objections they were in reality simply a request to honour his strength and speed! With gratitude and tenderness I singed every single hair from his body, gently placed his decapitated head in a stock pot, boiled off his flesh and made a spread-able head cheese! Because I believe that one can only relate with another living creature by completely destroying it! I’m sure Sandor’s friends and family will appreciate this!”

(ahem) A rationale so moronic it defies belief. Post-vegetarian I must submit to you-respectfully-be careful what kind of world you wish for. Someday it may come knocking on your door.

“Lemme in! LEMME THE FUCK IN! I just wanna ‘fully relate.’ I swear I’ll do my best to ensure that your final moments are swift and free from fear!”

Haha and I found this statement about the song from the author in question:

Sandor Katz said:
"I’ve had some inquiries lately regarding a song being released by a Canadian punk band, Propaghandi, called “Human(e) Meat: The Flensing of Sandor Katz.” The song describes slaughtering and preparing me as food. It does so using images I take to be references to and interpretations of the chapter “Vegetarian Ethics and Humane Meat” in my book The Revolution Will Not Be Microwaved. I find it ironic that group named for Ghandi, someone so insistent upon practicing resistance in nonviolent ways, would express their ideological disagreements with me through violent imagery describing my death, as well as a threat on my life. That is not funny to me.

That makes it doubly hilarious!

Thursday - Resuscitation Of A Dead Man

This is one band that i havent seen, that i would really like to if they ever came back to Aust.

Madness - Believe Me

It's a Ska-ey kind of evening, why not...

Life without you, my dear
Was dull, as dull as can be
I ask you, my love, why not take me now
Not to leave me in misery

Presets - Kicking and Screaming

I'm getting abused via text for not being where I said I'd be, but cheese and wine and bluelight is so much more appealing right now, so I'm listening to this song to try and get me in the mood for fun friday night frivolity.

Listening to Up For Sale by The (International) Noise Conspiracy whom I'm finally seeing again tonight for the second time! Fucking stoked even if Sara has left the band (I fell in love with her last time I saw them). Looking forward to Dennis' stage antics and stylish microphone tricks!

40 days and 40 nights since I last got in a fight
What have we done? Money's on the lookout for number 1
40 nights and 40 days that's how long I'm going to stay
What have become of the children that this culture spawned?

Another word for lack of precision
Another word that fits for me and you
We are up for sale everything that we know is up for sale

This song also has a pretty cool film clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwbleH55CCk.

Haha crazy Swedish communists! BRING THE REVOLUTION!

no ones gonna love you - Band Of Horses

I would of loved to of seen these guys when they came out last year, but i wasnt all that much into them...

great song...

Razorlight - wire to wire

Because i heard it on the J's today and it sang what is in my heart.

(And don't be hatin' cos i'm posting all the lyrics)

What is love but the strangest of feelings?
A sin you swallow for the rest of your life?
You've been looking for someone to believe in
To love you, until your eyes run dry

She lives on disillusion road
We go where the wild blood flows
On our bodies we share the same scar
Love me, wherever you are

How do you love with fate full of rust?
How do you turn what the savage take?
You've been looking for someone you can trust
Who will love you, again and again

How do you love in a house without feelings?
How do you turn what that savage take?
I've been looking for someone to believe in
Love me, again and again

She lives by disillusions close
We go where the wild blood flows
On our bodies, we share the same scar

How do you love on a night without feelings?
She says "love, I hear sound, I see fury"
She says "love's not a hostile condition"
Love me, wherever you are

Love me, wherever you are
Love me, wherever you are
Wherever you are

no ones gonna love you - Band Of Horses

I would of loved to of seen these guys when they came out last year, but i wasnt all that much into them...

great song...

I had a ticket, but had to go to the Wombats instead. Lame. I'm sure BoH would've been 10x better.

The Tallest Man on Earth - I won't be found

I can't remember why I orginally got this album, but every time I listen to it I'm glad. A little country, but a lot good.

know there is a hollow
I need to fill it with a draft
Of all the words that I wont way
And with a quiet whisper
I send a curse upon the day
That never used the sun to see
The light

Listenin to one of my favorite songs atm

Horrorshow - All Summer Long

myspace.com/horrorshowcrew

Not bad for a couple of Sydney boys

^ Young Sydney boys too. I have met them, they are only 20 or so :)

Cool song %)

Black Mountain - Stormy High

I always jump on the bandwagon too late; these guys just toured with Bon Iver. :( Anyway, was linked to this on the NPR website by bwaffles' music blog because it had some Bon Iver live.

Which is here if anyone is interested.

Thought I might as well check out Black Mountain too and they're pretty great! Think dirty guitar, drawled vocals, indie rock with 70s influence (as so much music is these days!) Worth checking out anyway if you're into that sort of thing.
