Black Gives Way To Blue had some great tracks but..

I've just started listening to that album on Spotify. It's not bad but my impression is Layne Staley sung with a certain melancholy passion whilst some of it sounds a just a little whiney now plus the riffs seem a tad generic. (as in they sound a bit like other bands that have been & gone rather than forging their own sound like before)

It doesn't make it bad music... just different from the original band. However, this is a tune:
