As if any more reasons for why Pavement are Gods, they did a reunion tour purely to get the drummer out of gambling debt. Priorities correct. Friends come before the acquisiton of funds.

If you've read George Orwell's Animal Farm then you might notice, in passing, that Beasts of England fits the tune of Deutschland Über Alles.

I am sure that many countries' national anthems contain stuff just as bad as the British or German ones, tucked away in verses rarely sung out loud and even less commonly translated from the original language .....
 
Beasts of England is supposed to be a cross between La Cucaracha and something else which escapes me. Oh my darling Clementine?

Not Das lied der Deutschen though. Don't you think that'd somewhat screw the narrative?

Like the older version of the so-called BRITISH national anthem:

May he sedition hush,
and like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush,
God save The King.

Which I'm sure is probably still sung in various Tory and UKIP -type places.
