No linky here, because what I'm listening to now is not on the Internet!
I'm listening to files on my own computer, transferred from the LP -- as in analogue, vinyl, 33 and a third RPM LP -- of
the Levellers' Greatest Hits. This is my Christmas present from my wonderful Partner in Crime; pressed on nice heavyweight vinyl, 5 or 6 tracks to a side. Hardware used was a Soundlab direct drive turntable with magnetic cartridge, via an
ION VinylForever USB A/D converter with switchable RIAA / flat characteristic, into a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 15 laptop; software was
Audacity on
Ubuntu GNU/Linux (but also available for Windows and Mac).
This way, I get the actual LP to hold and look at and probably, if we're brutally honest, skin up on; but I also get it in digital form,
with authentic vinyl warmth (or snap, crackle and pop, if you look at it that way).
Oh, and Jess, I love you very much for buying me this album
