Also hate when people change the spelling. I also believe the proper name should be on the birth certificate so that a 'Dick' is listed as 'Richard', for example. A 'Kathy' should be listed as Katherine, etc. Harry is a nickname; the correct name is 'Henry' (but of course they can be addressed as 'Harry'.

I am admittedly snobbish about names; I prefer solid traditional names like Mark, Michael, Charles, Henry, William, Julien, Hugh. Anne, Jane, Susan, Nancy, Sarah, Alexandra, Julia, Virginia, Elizabeth, etc. I love the 'old money' type names. I realise such names are not original but I feel that some names are class-ridden and can put people to a disadvantage if they're too 'below stairs'. Nick names will often develop anyway.

Certain name are too obviously posh sounding though, such as 'Henrietta', Octavia, Rupert, etc. The best names should fit in anywhere and not cause offence at either end, though I do admittedly prefer the more patrician names to the obviously working class or Celtic names. Sorry if this offends.

I worked at an insurance company about 10 years ago and I processed a claim for a woman named "Money Africa"....no shit.

maybe we can go ahead and cancel out ALL names beginning with P for a girl
