what would happen if you put weed in hydrochloric acid

I don't have a knowledge of chemistry and the effects of substances. I'm curious about methods of separating the cannabinoids from the plant matter (i.e. solvents.) I was wondering if acids would have a similar effect as solvents.

You have to use a nonpolar solvent to extract cannabinoids, nothing else will work.

stuff loke naptha and ether are nonpolar.
actually isopropyl is a polar solvent, like water.

water can can be used in a slightly different manner to separate the cannabinoids.......
ever hear of Ice water "extracted" bubble hash?

edit: i know its not the same as dissolving the cannibinoids in a solvent, but he said NOTHING else would work and that is just wrong.

its not extracted though, the water is just used to freeze the trichromes (notice the "Ice") and then the buds/plant matter are aggitated causing them to fall off. Reason this method is used is because very little evaporating is needed to obtain the hash (ie just the water that gets caught in the trichrome mud, as opposed to a vat that you then have to scrape when all the liquid is gone)

I never said it was extracted, but i said people call it that. but i know the difference.

the ice helps make the oils solid, but what really makes it work is the hydrophobic nature of cannabinoids, and the multi step filtration.

wait holy shit i asked the same question to myself today cause in class we were dealing with hydrocholric acid and i was like, "what would happen if i took a bit of HCL?"
haha funny, were both in the bayarea

HCl is a strong acid. Unless you enjoy chemical burns I wouldn't suggest taking it or using it with your drugs.

You can use sulfuric acid, ether, and baking soda in a chemical process which converts the cannabinol and cannabidiols into THC. It's super fucking hard to do though.

why on earth would you even wonder about this

In the name of harm reduction, I do not think this thread should remain open in CD. Maybe if you'd like to try ADD that would be a better idea, but this seems not only unnecessary as there are already high-yield, safe, and proven methods of making nearly every type of extraction, which can be found using the search engine.

I would not try smoking such a thing - it would probably render the herb quiet unsmokable.
