What will the future of drugs look like?

I like this Idea

By RedHaze obviously

In the future, the suburbs will no longer be the safe haven for families to raise their children.

No. The sea of houses will be over run by people speeding off their tits

Every third house in suburbs far and wide will have a cook in it cooking up his magical crystal. Tweakers will roam the streets like banshees, to begin with in large groups, but as their paranoia kicks in they will slowly kill eachother off. Only the strongest tweakers will survive.

But how did this happen you ask? One of the large pharmacies releases an OTC medication called WakeGain4000. Tests confirmed on humans and animals showed that is was not neurotoxic, cardiotoxic or addictive at all. The drug was obviously not tested for a long enough period however, and after 10 years, people who have taken WakeGain4000 like we have a cup of coffee every morning, slowly start to get very paranoid and some even go insane. Turns out WG4k alters your brain chemistry over time similiar to an anti-depressant. It is instantly pulled off the shelf and incinerated all over the world.

A whole decade of working professionals, students, mothers etc now have nothing to turn to.

Except for Meth.

In all seriousness, in the not so distant future I predict a rise in stimulants due to people leading busier lives and working longer hours, perhaps combining opiates to be able to sleep (if they want to...). I see more people walking around with totally flat personalities and opinions due to all the anti depressants they're on. Cannabis will not be as we know it today. MDxx will phase out due to (and this is only a prediction) the previous generations of e users now suffering from major mental illnesses.

In the future we will not be alive in any true sense, we will just be.

Oxycontin (one of my favorite drugs) will be almost impossible to use recreationally due to pharmaceutical douche bags who have decided to make the outer shell much harder to break and so forth.

i don't fucking understand how mdmda can get phased out or anything. there is definatly a demand for good quality mdma, and it's not hard to make at all. why the fuck isn't there more around? shit is annoying as fuck, i'm tired of bullshit pills. do they even have cut pills in europe like we do in america? can't they not even get a hold of meth normally, so why waste it in pills?

as far as the future of drugs I think we're all fucked. the laws will definatly get a lot worse before they get a lot better. unfortunatly that means a lot of us will end up locked up for an absurd amount of time over complete bullshit before people get pissed off enough to do something about it. it will probably take something like these fucked up new laws trying to get passed before the normal voter takes enough notice to do anything.

all I know is if I ever got charged with some utter ridiculousness like a 10 year stretch over passin a joint, I know I'd run. 2pac style "i'm out on bail and yall ain't never gonna see me in this motherfucker again" although this attitude will probably keep me from getting bailed out in the first place cuz I dunno anyone willing to take the risk. :-(

I have the distinct feeling that most of the european countries will move to decriminalize and eventually legalize. The United States, while able to stand on their own on the war on iraq, wont be able to stand on their own for the war on drugs without the support of the rest of the world.

The war on drugs requires involvement and cooperation with many different countries, and if they move to legalization, we're going to have to follow.

-I think America will never legalize marijuana since no politician has the balls to speak up about it. I think in the near future though other countries will legalize it.
-People will be perscribed to atleast 5 different medications that will be considered "neccesary" to function properly
- Cocaine usage will increase
- Ciggarette sales will decrease
- More rehabilitation centers will be popping up

agreed, but not before they hold on for dear life and do a lot of FUCKED UP things to try and save face...

I suspect that the more potent fentanyl analogues such as carfentanyl will replace the majority of opiates on the black market because of their potency and ease of manufacturing. Carfentanyl will induce a heavy nod in nanogram doses, and can be easily made by a crew of backwoods yokels with hazmat suits.

Just considering the potency of fentanyl and its analogues, it is FAR cheaper than making heroin from poppy pods. Fentanyl and its analogues are more rare that people think, and ANY discriminating skag head will KNOW the difference between some potent diacetylmorphine and a fentanyl analogue.

Do you still think opiates will still have a strong following in the future though? Im skeptical of that. Im not saying its gonna phase out, i just think those clever people who make RCs will come up with newer ones which are even better than the ones we have today, and RCs have little to no stigma attached to them from the main stream media, which means less people would be biased against them (unlike opiates).

time will tell i guess :)

From that statement, I am feeling like the population of the US may decrease. Everyone will be moving to europe, and all the stupid politicians will be here alone to ponder what they did wrong.

but man I don't want to move to europe. this is my home, I mean i have fucking texas tattooed on my leg. you shouldn't have to run from a place you love because of shit like this, but it definatly might come down to it.

Increased cocaine usage, decreased ciggarette sales? Don't see those two going together. I know that when I'm good and coked up, I smoke cigs like a fiend =D

^^^
Hahaha!
But seriously, the generation of young people today have grown up with a world of anti-smoking propaganda that was unknown previously, and amongst my peer group at school (this is in Enlgand) the smokers are a minority. Hell I don't even smoke cigarettes! Unless, of course, they are full of some prime Super Skunk....

Good thread, there's been some really insightful comments.

Yes, if anything, an even stronger following. I use opioids/opiates because I enjoy the euphoria and unless RCs can provide that, I have no interest in them.

I don't seen opiates going anywhere as they have been a drug of choice for people since the beginning of time. I can see them comming up with synthetic endorphins and other synths of actual neuro transmitters like dopamine or drugs whose only function is to cause massive production of these things giving hella good highs and little to no side effects.
