Opioids What will happen at emergency room for a shot to the artery in the wrist?

I've played this game before, but never to this extent.

Look at forums, read various opinions, wait it out, go to emergency room (which is what most people say is smartest if you have a doubt), and wait around and weigh options.

I successfully jumped from a 3 year subutex habit in november, my 2nd attempt and I knew what to expect, and I have the blessing of my mom taking care of me and not working until I'm recovered.

Well I was finally getting over the hump and my old chronic pain condition flared up like hell, and I found 5mg oxycodone leftover from my moms surgery.

I wasn't concerned about getting addicted because I used a vicodin and benzo taper to help get off the subutex itself.

I did find an old needle though and went ahead with what I figured to be last shot.

Even though it was only 5mg, because of the size, I had to use about 40-50cc of water. I was already in the habit of using little water but needed that much for the size of the pill.

So I was rusty and the only spot that would register was my hand vein, and it was harder to push down than normal. Looking back on it the blood was in fact lighter and now I know for sure I fucked up.

My hand isn't THAT swollen, its been a little swollen and little red after about an hour after I shot up 2 days ago. It's extremely painful, I can hardly make a fist or have any range of movement without extreme pain. I've broke a bone or wrist, but the pains bad enough to make me feel like its broken.

So I'm wondering what the doc will/can do. I remember my buddy having his whole arm swell up double in size and puffy as hell and he finally went and they did some horrible procedure with detail he told me that I don't want to remember, basically putting a whole in his arm, and it left a nasty scar, but it did heal after a few weeks.

But in my case it doesn't seem like there is anything to operate or drain. I just have redness and slight swelling, and pretty extreme pain, of which I'm constantly panic attacking that I've done permanent tissue/nerve damage.

I am about 90% it was a straight up arterial shot, and any input is greatly appreciated. Wish me luck and careful IV'ing if you choose to do so. I was doing so well and now I'm kicking myself so hard as what was supposed to be my last shot might be the one to do me in.

Was it the 5/325? jeez tell me you didn't shoot apap.. And the old needle wasn't a bright idea either. what was filtering process? And finally if it hurts that bad, get it checked out..

i hit an artery in my crook in my elbow trying to hit once... arm/hand swelled up very fast... felt a weird zap when i actually hit the needle into the atery....
so freaking out i rread online... and so started putting snow on the area and strong pressure on the spot i shot at to stop the artery blood (very high pressure now possibly leaking in my arm? )

AND drove down the street to the ER...

the doctor checked to see if circulation was there still (pressing my fingers so they turn white then seeing how fast they go back to normal color)
which was fine so she said there wasnt much to do and she was gong to go grab some paperwork.
at which point i was worried what she was really getting (stupid i know) and decided to dip out and get the f outta there....

no problems ever since... i assume youve been putting ice and pressure on the injecting point?

and oh btw i think my swelling went away after maybe a few hours or something dont remember exactly... pretty sure it was down the same night tho....

Shit no sorry I wasn't being clear, I used vicodin orally to help get off IVing subutex, but when I found the instant release 5mg oxycodone, thats what I shot.

And its now day 3 and it still hurts pretty bad but I do appear to have circulation everywhere, its getting better not worse, and I'm assuming my experience and thought my experience wouldn't be much unlike what nightlights experienced, and get a wasted visit to the ER.

Yeah I cleaned an old needle, filtered through cotton, then filtered through cotton again (theres always an extra ring of shit left from first cotton filter)

I've been alternating heat and cold on it. Like I'm about to take a hot shower now, and shortly after put a cold pack on it.

I'd rather be safe than sorry but I've got less swelling and more movement so I'm just going to keep an eye on it.
