I know that amphetamines seem like they become a new drug here, but knowing Hitler had injections of meth and that his soldiers and other soldiers in asia used meth for staying up to fight in the war. However no matter where I look, I can't seem to find what the meth looked like or the kinds that were used back in the days. Was it the same thing as dexedrine etc? Was it the same thing as today's crystal meth? Was it less/more potent.

I'm pretty assure adderall nor dexedrine etc were available anytime before 1960's, so what kind of meth and amphetamines were they using?

I read that he couldn't get out of bed unless he was given his shot of whatever concoction the doctor had ready for him........

Perhaps it was his daily injections of meth or whatever other drugs that made him so psycho and evil with weird thoughts and conspiracies. Maybe if he was addicted to heroin he might not have been so energetic to do all the mess he did.

i think this is more drug culture material. basic drug discussion is for drug specific harm reduction questions.

basic -> drug culture

^I agree.

Hitler took various concoctions from various doctors. Maybe you can find full access to this one: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15825245

He also had at least one STD, a large inferiority complex as a result of being rejected from art school and his height, and probably parkinsons, all of which contributed to his decline. He definitely took most of his drugs intravenously, with the exception possibly being cocaine eye drops.

Or, better yet, make him an alcoholic and a marijuana addict. Good luck making competent military maneuvers when you're drunk and stoned off your ass all the time.

Furthermore and best yet...imagine Mr Hitler on magic mushrooms and LSD...now that would be a man I might actually listen to

I watched a documentary that said that Methamphetamine was technically illegal in Nazi Germany and Hitler's doctor had to acquire the Meth secretly through clandestine chemists. They even claimed that the meth he received was made poorly and probably contained impurities that might have contributed to his mental and physical deterioration and Parkinson's like symptoms.

The documentary was called "High Hitler"(I believe.. although I have seen many documentaries on the subject) and went into great detail about the large amounts of experimental drugs that were administered to Hitler daily in his special shot(elixir). His closest confidant during the entire war was his private doctor who he refused to go anywhere without. Some of his closest advisers were afraid the doctor was slowly poisoning him and when they approached Hitler with their concerns they were promptly relieved of their positions. It seems that his drug intake played a major role in his decision making and his drug induced grandiosity probably influenced some of his tragic strategic maneuvers such as Stalingrad.

Yeah...... all of this. They believe he was in the later stages of syphilis.

Fascinating!

The meth and amphetamines used back then are the same chemicals as nowadays. Obviously the chemicals werent just not marketed as adderall and dexedrine back then in Germany.

His mysterious drug intake most probably didnt induced his grandiosty. His grandiosty existed way before meth was available as medicine. The Temmler Werke started production of meth a.k.a Pervitin in 1934. Hitlers literary masterpiece of bullsh** "Mein Kampf" dates to 1924. His grandiosty (madness) existed before meth was even available in Germany.

Do you know his history ? Or how he was seeking out a blade humanity probably already lost and lies about ?

He thought in some circles the belief is anyway..that he wanted the spear that stabbed Jesus which is on display at some fancy museum now but anyway this would lead him to great power and yada yada ...but even that museum isn't sure it's the spear lol

also his scientists were some of the hardest working ..some rumors from then to now are they wanted to build some type of air craft that could handle a full 360 degrees during a fight without truly turning like even our stealth fighters do now (would of been a huge invention if it happened ..if this is true surely we tried to steal the idea and kill everyone who didn't help us ) ..

so much more...all probably bc meth had him thinking so much ..also he was in ww1 and should of died , believed he was hister from the great Nostradamus and his book for predicting the future which some say is complete BS ..I'm never fully into disbelieving every thing or fully believing everything..

the groups he put threw hell in internment camps (slavery) is actually a really smart albeit sick way to keep everything going and it was done before when concurring places , Greek, Rome , Egypt all had slaves and took more and more ..he knew he needed some man power to build things ...they had to of been building some things we will never see (no I do not think slavery is ok ..or whatever negatives may of been taken from this ) ...just saying strategically it made sense and was just like bombing ..you win after that usually (nukes) ..

but there's so many mysteries to that man I wish I could talk to him ...I guess that could sound horrible but the secrets he may hold that he died with our gov probably figured out most and hid what they felt was useful from us ...not saying anything will happen like hitters movement/halocaust but talk about ambition ?

Whatever he was on ...if he just took something to relax maybe he wouldn't of had the guys to go threw with it ..it was his focus , anger , determination , power in his speeches that got the sheep to follow him for 1 man can only do so much ...and that was one angry poor country after ww1 ..

also so heard he looked for shangrala (spelling) and many other "mythical" (I say it that way bc who the heck really knows I mean odds are if it's even here we won't find it but still I'd say 99.99999% chance it's a myth but I like keeping an open mind lol)

sry tweaked..lol

Uppers for speeches, getting through the day. Downers to sleep/ relax. Man's digestive system was a wreck. I've often wondered what was in those injections, or whatever the method, the blitzkrieg was fueled by.

Morell kept a medical diary of the drugs, tonics, vitamins and other substances he administered to Hitler, usually by injection or in pill form. Most were commercial preparations, some were his own. Since some of these compounds are considered toxic, many historians have speculated Morell may have contributed to Hitler's poor health. This fragmentary list of representative ingredients would have seemed somewhat less shocking during the 1940s: amphetamines, Atropa belladonna, Atropine, caffeine, chamolile, cocaine via eyedrops, E. Coli, enzymes, Eukodol (a trade name for Oxycodone), Glyconorm, Mutaflor, methamphetamine, morphine, strychnine, Oxedrine Tartrate, potassium bromide, Prophenazone, proteins, and lipids derived from animal tissues and fats, sodium barbitone, sulfonamide, testosterone, and vitamins.

All kinds of stuff. Check out the film The Longest Day, they talk about Hitler not calling up his Panzer reserves during D-Day because he had taken a barbiturate sleeping pill the night before and had requested that he not be awakened. None of his staff dared to attempt to wake Hitler up so he could order the Panzers up, even though the Allies had just landed at Normandy. Some speculate that his Parkinson's-like symptoms were caused by heavy methamphetamine use.

It's pretty safe to say that Hitler's drug consumption altered the course of the war and indeed history.

Through much research on this topic (not because of this thread) I have heard that Hitler was injected 5 times a day with what was basically a speedball. It is said that Dr Morell gave him an injection that consisted mainly of procaine(a form of cocaine)and "a powerful morphine substitute".This substitute was most likely methadone or some constituent of that drug, being that it was invented by the Germans during this period. The shots were also said to contain vitamin supplements and other things which Morell thought would bolster his health and general well being. The main sources for this information are the video documentary"Drugs and the Fuhrer" and the book "Hitler's Secret Service"by Walter Schellenberg, who was the head of AMT 6,the foreign intelligence branch of the SS.If I remember correctly, the video documentary was part of a boxed set by Time Life Publications. If you are interested in drug use as it relates to WW2, here is another little known bit of trivia: In the years leading up to the invasion of Manchuria, the Japanese secret service introduced a brand of cigarette made exclusively for export to China called Golden Bat.It contained small doses of opium and heroin. It was meant to generate money for the Empire of Japan while creating a generation of addicts. The intent was for the Chinese to essentially finance their own destruction, paving the way for the Japanese invasion. This came from a book(I forget the title but still have it somewhere)about spies. In fact,I believe the name of the book was Spies:Secret Agents Who Changed the Course of History.I don't recall the name of the Japanese agent who came up with the idea, nor can I remember the author of the book, but I thought it was a neat piece of historical trivia and seeing this thread made me think of it.

I thought the Japanese created Amphetamine, and the Germans created Methamphetamine? Heisenberg. I'll be honest, history never interested me till like.. 11th grade when I was geeked up on addz n shit n my Filipino friend explained it all to me, very sporadically when I would ask things, ol dude was smart.
