Hey folks, I've found this site and sites like it quite useful over the years, but I never signed up thinking I wouldn't engage enough to make it worthwhile. And that is still a possibility, but I guess the appeal of being able to chime in myself got to me this time. Uhhh what else, what else... I'm Canadian and recently quit drinking. My interests are: radical discourse in contemporary painting and sculpture, and DIY. Nice to meet everyone.

Welcome! It's great to be able to engage, and there are a lot of good, knowledgeable people here.
Do you have a favorite sculptor?

Off the top of my head? Most of what comes to mind might be considered installation. Maurizio Cattelan, who notoriously taped a banana to a wall a few years ago, has some work that is actually pretty cool. Blinky Palermo always interested me, though he was more of a painter I guess. I really enjoyed Sun Yuan & Peng Yu's "I Can't Help Myself" when I got to see that a few years ago. Oh, and there is a nice 3 foot long plaster xanax bar at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia I always enjoyed by an artist called Colleen Wolstenholme. I'm blanking, to tell you the truth I'm more of a painting guy whose interest bleeds into sculpture. At a certain level they are the same thing.

Hi welcome to BL. look around, check out forum topics, read and contribute to the conversation. Ask questions and post topics of interests for feedback or just for fun.

As far as I can gather they can only be bought online and do not comply with local standards in most countries?
