What to bring (mentally) to my first LSD experience? And what to bring back from it?

Hi all,

I'll have my first experience with LSD soon, and I've been advised to let some kind of 'question' or 'direction' guide my trip, 'instead of just going into it'. Also, does anyone want to weigh in on what they've taken back with them from their trips? I'm trying to get a feeling of this too...

I have limited experience with mushrooms and 8+ years with ecstasy.

Thanks! Much appreciated.

This is an intensely personal question that no one online can really answer for you. We're not inside your mind, we don't know what would be beneficial to think about.

Me personally? The use of LSD helped me get over being sexually abused as a child, but I had made myself forget it for many many years. There is no one who could have pointed my trip in this direction, I just had to let go and think about myself, my life, my personality, etc.

Ralt is right.
Besides, an LSD trip is always unpredictable in some level (to start with, you don't really know the exact dose you're taking), so if you want to give a direction to the trip it's fine, but sometimes you must just "let it go".

"Whenever in doubt, turn off your mind, relax, float downstream." Timothy Leary (later quoted by John Lennon)

Just go for it man, don't "try" and bring something back from it. You don't really have to use LSD with a "spiritual" purpose or try to learn something from it. I hate people who say you have to use it like that, that's bullshit, just enjoy your time on it.

Go in with a clear head, in a good mood, with good people, and with good music and you shall be rewarded.

Hey lantern. That you're asking what sort of question you should take with you indicates to me that you don't really have a pressing spiritual reason to take LSD. Therefore I agree with the above posters that the best thing to do would be indeed to 'just go for it'. If you discover anything along the way that you'd like to find out on a future trip, then you can always trip again later. Consider your first few experiences orientation into LSD, let it lead you where it leads you. The experience will be in some ways similar to mushrooms, so you'll have some idea what to expect, but other elements are quite distinct - the nature of the visuals, the particular headspace, that kind of thing. Happy tripping.

your question is what is my question. trip and find out.
personally i have hundreds of questions. what i have brought back is so many amazing experiences.

Thanks very much everyone. Food for thought. If anyone else want to weigh in, don't hesitate...

I'm looking forward to going to the countryside soon :)

i tripped randomly this past weekend. my friend just texted me and was like, "wanna get some cid?" it was only my 2nd time and i had the best trip of my life. i went in expecting nothing but a good trip, and came out with an entirely new perspective on my life. i came to many great realizations without even trying. once you just "let go," life will show what you want to see.
