What the hell

Ok one night me and a friend pop some vicodins his Dad gives to us. In total we each took 15mgs, this gets us a light buzz. So we take another 22.5 mgs of hydrocodone. We prolly did this between a two hour period, now after I ingest the 22.5 mgs I get a very nice high and fall into an opiate type kinda dream (ya know half asleep half awake kinda thing but your dreaming with your eyes closed yet yer still awake) Oh yes I also had one beer.
Well about one and a half a days later I decide to take 45mgs of hydrocodone all at once. I was expecting to have a pretty nice high seeing as how the previous ingestion of hydrocodone got me off pretty well. To my annoyance I am proved wrong, I did get "high", but it was nothing like the night and a half before. The only thing I did different this time was that I took Allegra (60 mg fexofenadine HCl for immediate-release and 120 mg pseudoephedrine HCl for extended-release) and I did not drink a beer.
I'm just wondering why the hell the time I took 45 mgs not as good as the time with the lower and spread out dosage. I thought of tollerance, but I dont see how thats possible seeing as how that was the first time in at least 1 month I have taken an opiate. That leaves either the beer or the allegra. Im guessing the beer, but it was only one and I cant even catch a tiny buzz off that.
Or was it just chance? I had a better high that one time just because?
What do you think?

Adding the pseudoephedrine would interfere with the opiate high, but I think the bigger factor was the lack of alcohol. Even just one beer will fuck with you quite a bit when your nodding off.

^^He/she is right also.
It sounds like a few things contributed to your situation: Lack of alcohol, pseudoephedrine, and even a slight tolerance build up cause you just took some the day before.
Honestly though, I would have guessed that taking such a relatively high dose would have done something for ya. That's just a guess though and obviously I am wrong.

Yeah ... 45 mgs each?? Damn that's alot. You should've felt some kinda high, and if you're like me, a wicked headache in the morning.

45mgs is alot?
It was to my understanding that was a newbie dose.
Pissed me off REAL BAD cause that was the last of me pills.
I was a bit quesy the next morning and I vomited on a plane ride to Cincinati. (sp)

I feel (from personal experience) that a newbie dose is more around 10-15 mg (for your 1st experience with hydro). With that low dosage, you can determine what if any negative effects that the drug may have on you, or if you are allergic to it.(If you really start to itch, or break out, take a couple of benadryls, and refrain from usage in the future). I have been a casual user of all things opiate for about 5 years now, and I can still get a decent buzz off of 20-25 mg...I think that 45 would get me REALLY high.

I concur.. 45mg would have a newbie floored and probably sick as hell.. I would say start with 15mg-20mg, but everyone reacts differntly.. about 10% of the world population have genetically low levels of P450 2D6 (the same enzyme responsible for activating two other prodrugs, oxycodone and codeine)..

Yeh, well I am a newbie, but during the experience I was not sick the next morning I was quesy and then on the plane ride it was too much I guess and I blew chunks.
Phreex so you agree it was the allegra right?
How does it diminish the effects of hydrocodone, why does it?

Because the ephedrin is a stimulant. With a weak opiate like hydrocodone, the stimulant properties are going to overpower the opiate.

No, I don't agree it was the allegra, I never even hinted toward that.. could have been the alcohol, could have been the spacing between doses, could have been anything - sometimes there is not a straight-forward and clear answer...

Ahh Ok, so Deus121 you agree it was the Allegra or at least it played some significant role?
