Last night I IV'd about 20 mg of oxycodone (my usual dose). I also injected a 5 mg dextroamphetamine tablet a few minutes later (please don't flame me for injecting pills; I know the risks). Shortly after, I snorted another 5 mg of dex.

I used sterile needles, filtered through cottons (NOT cigarette filters), used clean spoons, clean water, etc. I've shot oxy the past few days and have had no bad reactions.

About 45 minutes after IV'ing my fiancee and I had sex. We decided to stop because we were both too fucked up, and suddenly I started shaking really badly, to the point that my teeth wouldn't stop chattering, and I felt like I was suffocating.
I took a hot bath and went to bed and fell asleep quickly. I DO have panic attacks, but I am out of my klonopin prescription for the next few days. I was wondering if this seems like something that could have been caused by the drugs, or if it was just a panic attack?

Well the reason I was thinking panic attack was that after the, err..strenuous sex, my heartrate was way up, which could provoke a panic attack.

^First, do we know if it was actually a panic attack, or just a bad reaction to the drugs? I've never seen someone have a panic attack on low/moderate doses of speed. And certainly, never oxy.

I don't know if I have true "panic attacks" per se, but there are times when I experience "depersonalization"...a strange physical feeling, along with the psychological feeling that "nothing is real." When this happens, I just sit in the tub and think to myself..."Well, I guess this is at least better than being sober."

Is this more of the kind of feeling you're talking about?

Trust me, I've gotten panic attacks on opiates before. They come out of nowhere, sex or no sex. Just because you've never seen someone have an attack on speed doesn't mean it doesn't happen. If you're already prone to attacks, speed makes that risk higher, no?

Your negative experience was brought on by the drugs and your anxiety made the experience much worse. You may have ended up having a panic attack, but it sounds like you started off getting the chills brought on by drugs and you freaked out because of it. You probably should avoid dexedrine. I've sworn off amphetamines for good and my life is better because of it.
Messing with dopamine levels (which happens directly when taking an amphetamine and indirectly when taking an opiate) can cause your body temperature to either raise or drop. After dosing on any opiate I normally wake up in the middle of the night sweating like crazy. I've also had many of these episodes of the chills, but normally I don't freak out. I try to relax my body and I don't feel like I'm going to die or anything, I just wrap a blanket around myself and warm up and then I'm fine. Your warm bath worked.

Thanks sonic, that makes the most sense. So the conclusion is basically that it was a panic attack, but the attack was provoked by the drugs. Thanks for all the replies.

My boyfriend felt my forehead several times and said I didn't feel like I had a fever.

Oh well, I guess it isn't a big deal now since I'm fine. I'm avoiding speed in the future though..speed+anxiety=no.

Heh, that's whats been happening to me when I've started abstaining more often from opiates. This morning I awoke from a rather unpleasant dream with my shirt absolutely soaked. I had to take it off, it was disgusting. Sounds like we're opposites.

I get wicked night sweats when I'm tapering off opiates too. I've stabilized my taper dose now so I'm not getting them anymore. But it was a bitch when I was transitioning from oxy to pods and started tapering. For about a month I'd wake up at 6am *drenched* in sweat. I had to put three layers of towels under the sheet. I was doing a lot of laundry that month. I sympathize.
