Hello friends!

I have several muscle relaxers that have been RX’ed over the years, and as a result, I have piles of them. I have the ones mentioned in the title, and I’m willing to ask for new ones if there’s one that might work better but not be a red flag to any prescribers in the asking.

With that having been said, what of those mentioned are good for working and helping severe spine pain?

I have torn muscles from pelvis and spine (literally gone, no longer attached) and so the remaining muscles ensure tremendous wear and tear to compensate.

I alternate muscle relaxers as it stands right now.

Any guidance that can be provided would be greatly appreciated as to whether or not these three can be cold water extracted and slammed? Does anyone have any experience with it?

I have ethanol and methanol as well if it helps!

Thanks for your help!

I've slammed tizanidine and it is possible. But it lowers blood pressure pretty much and 4mg was making me feel like fainting immediately after the shot and had to lay down. It wasn't pleasurable. Lower doses like 1mg were feeling much better.
Don't recommend if you have low blood pressure.

Thank you for taking the time to reply!

My blood pressure isn’t anywhere close to “low” due to severe chronic pain.

I would say that I average….

135-150/85-100?

Give or take!

Now, while that means that I could have a nice 135/85, it’s not as common. Usually I’m resting and in very VERY little pain.

Those are my very best days.

Sigh.

I’ve definitely had +200/+150 due to incredibly severe pain where I basically didn’t even know my own name and it was close to a 10/10 on the pain scale. I rarely use “10” but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ yeah. I heard my heart rate was something like 220. After the first few rounds of morphine didn’t work they looked up my chart and realized I was on fentanyl and dilaudid! Ha. No wonder guys.

Anyways.

I’m not so much looking for “pleasurable” with the muscle relaxers, but rather “stop the muscle pain and spasms please before I scream!”

I guess I’ll try 1mg and see how that helps!

Thanks for the suggestion!

I have no idea if you can shoot them but another muscle relaxer i have that you didnt mention is Soma, for me i normally take one Soma and 5mg of Valium and ill feel totally chill and the couple times ive tried taking two Somas i found it to be too much too the point of being a little sloppy walking and even talking even having the slight feeling of it being uncomfortable …I also have a bunch of tizanadine which i use as a sleep aid when somethings needed ,two of them and a trazadone and im out for the night ((8-10hrs)..

I have no clue how any of these muscle relaxers dissolve in water but id definitely run them thru a wheel filter instead of just using a cotton,,,perhaps some of the more knowledgeable folks here can tell you if its worth shooting them vs just taking them orally which i find works very good,,,and this is coming from an IV fentanyl user so i have nothing against shooting drugs but if the bioavailability aint higher then whats the point

Do you extract your IV fentanyl from patches by any chance?

I have another thread asking for advice.

I have lots and lots of patches legally prescribed of varying brands (no gel, all matrix), and I’m trying to extract for extra pain relief.

I’m aware of course that the transdermal bioavailability is roughly ~97%, but it seems that I can’t metabolize more than about a certain amount over that particular “channel”, whereas if they give me an ampule or bolus, of say 50-100mcgs, I’ll feel it, even if I’m on a 100mcg patch q48hr. And yes, I do lay on a heat pad for pain, even if it has an effect on the patch, it really seems to be my metabolism ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Any extra thoughts you might have are greatly appreciated!

No I buy bags on the street,I know absolutely nothing about patches and was only given one once in the hospital and that was only after them giving me morphine shots for something I was admitted for while having a heroin habit and they got tired of me pestering them for my shot early every 4 hrs so they put a patch on my stomach and I wanted no part of it so I checked out AMA within 30 minutes of getting it….

Sigh. I tried the tizanidine.

I injected 1ml/mg at first. Nothing. Then the rest of the remaining 4mg. Nothing.

Thank you for the advice, however!

Perhaps cyclobenzaprine is IV? Or Baclofen?

I was curious about this because I used to take baclofen and when I worked in the operating room I had done a surgery implanting a baclofen intrathecal pump that delivers to the spinal fluid. I have never heard of anyone using it IV but I guess it's possible. When I did a little research, it says it's not available in the US but other countries do have IV baclofen available. There was an article in the journal of pain in 2013 about using IV baclofen for the treatment of spastic muscle pain and migraines. The dose was 5-10 mg administered every 10-15 min. You can do with that info what you will but I do suggest doing some research first. There are a lot of other articles that say not to use it IV, IM or any other way other than intrathecal and orally.

I can't find anything about cyclobenzaprine being used any way but orally.

There is an injectable form of methocarbamol. It can be prescribed by a Dr. Like I said before though, do some research. I think any valid medical journal or research would be a safe bet for info.

Good luck. I understand wishing to get rid of the pain so badly you'll do anything to make it happen. Just be safe.

Your case if very severe...and since opioids won't help u much and 4mg tizanidine didnt help u too..i would recommend this.
1, Since u have high blood pressure, use that tizanidine. Don't be scared to use even 4+4+4+4mg, max 12mg at tíme but i would spread it and u do not have to IV it. This Is best muscle relaxer for high BP and it really helps with pain and makes opioids stronger. It Is also anticonvulsant.
2, Use enough opioid so u wont feel uncomfortable, but aceclofenac/ diclofenac + magnesium ( all of this works best in form of oral suspension. Really add 500-1000mg magnesium, once again, solution Is best. U dont need to do this all The the tíme, if diarrhea accurs, u are loaded with magnesium on max lvl.
When u use magnesium with diclofenac/aceclofenac u dont need omeprazol or pantoprazol. If u Don't use magnesium, use one of mentioned hour or at least withention nsaids.
3, Since your blood pressure Is on higher side even on opioids ( mine Is too ) u Can add benzodiazepines (not good for overall pain but for muscle relaxation they Are good mostly available is diazepam, u Will need 10mg. Or clonazepam...Alprazolam works too. For everything spinal-related, tizanidine Is usually preffered muscl relaxant and it Is great muscle relaxant and sedative (but short acting).
4, Additional help - B6, selene, zinc, anticholinergics (even benadryl and Its good for pain)
5, Opioids related addition - use low dose caffeine ( or Casual dose i dont know if u use caffeine), try it...IF U add tizanidine or benzos, u may sa well add opioid which acts on serotonine and noradrenaline ( tramadol, u Don't need to start with more than 100 mg ). It will provide pain relief by raising serotonine, noradrenaline. And it raise them potently.
6, Gabapentinoids - at start, try gabapentin. Pregabalin Is too potent if never used before. And possibly BP and HB overkill.
It Is a lot of meds but sadly, your case Is ..severe.
