the rind of the orange has an oil in it that effects taste, put it over your drink and twist a strip of orange peel, you'll see it spray, to that near a flame and the spray is flammable
and like inonzi said, always use 100% blue agave tequila, jose cuervo is not even worth being called tequila, leave it on the liquor store shelf where it belongs, if you cant afford herrandura, caba wabo, don julio, or patron, get hornitos, its the cheapest 100% agave and a pretty good one at that, for mixed drinks you shouldnt be able to tell any diff between that and patron silver, stay away from gold, its been aged in old brandy barrels, it should be kept to drinking by itself, IMHO its fucking nasty but suit yourself
in tall glass pour 1 oz granadine, then fill with ice, 1 3/4oz tequila, fill with OJ, same drink diff version, float the granadine on top instead of having it on the bottom, its called tequila sunrise
