I grew up on both these bands, being hauled from one strip mall to the next to shoplift from various toy stores in San Diego by my best friend's Australian coked out father. He loved Alice in Chains; NIN I discovered on my own and still love; they perform one of the best shows I've seen (even when their drummer OD's on meth). Not an Alice in Chains fan anymore, however that's my favorite song by them.
Right now: Sleater Kinney - One Beat - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpLhrLzSaFQ - An ex-girlfriend included this on a mix for me, and at the time I didn't care about her or anything she did. Little did I know I'd fall for her after my apathy (read as: alcoholism) had already inflicted too much damage. Damn booze has played into so much pain and suffering in my life. Just another gruesome specter always hovering close behind.
Haha, and Marilyn Manson is a good show too - and I'm not even a fan. That being said, his autobiography is pretty entertaining too - he can definitely write.
