The idea is to purify street amphetamine sulfate. If this topic isn't advanced enough, mods please move this thread into an appropriate forum.

-acetone washing is good for removing sugars etc. but unfortunately not all the cuts used are sugars.

Is there a solvent that would dissolve just amphetamine sulfate leaving all the other crap undissolved (the crap is always water soluble)?? I would be doing this step after an acetone wash. The solvent should evaporate easily for easy recovery of the amphetamine.

A/B extraction would be most efficient but i'd like to know is there an option to that?

The Merck Index reports amphetamine sulphate dissolves 1 part per 8.8 parts water or 515 parts 95% ethanol (so 1 gram will dissolve fully in 8.8mL (8.8 grams) of water or 515 mL alcohol)

^from erowid.

hope this helps some

What is the one part? How do you compare solid to liquid here?

But yeah, water will work fine.

The idea was to separate the water soluble cut(s) from the amphetamine sulfate that cannot be removed by acetone wash.

I need something that dissolves sulfate salts but not the other water soluble crap.

Water would dissolve everything in the first place. And this solvent should have low enough boiling point so it can be evaporated without a rotary evaporator.

you're stuck then.

Best bet: convert to freebase, dissolve the water solubles out, convert back to a salt.

A/B is really your only option.

AND - 1000th post!@ :D (ok, milestone soapboxing over ;p)

Ok, thanks guys for your input.

I've done A/B before and allthough it's a bit of hassle (i got no glassware) the final product is the shit.

It's a shame there's no shortcuts :( .

Btw, does anyone know does maltodextrin dissolve in acetone?

That's a bit hard to believe 'cause I have plenty of times dissolved 1 gram of acetone washed amphetamine sulfate in 2ml of water.

Where i live most IV speed users prefer 2ml syringes.

Edit: chemfinder states that 5-10g of amphetamine sulfate dissolves in 100ml of water at 16C. 16C is not eaven near the normal room temp, which is ca 20-23C (pulled out of my ass). That increases the solubility eaven further. I f i'm having trouble getting all of it into solution i just microwave it for about 3-4secs. After it's been cooled it will remain in solution.

http://chemfinder.cambridgesoft.com --> just do a search for amphetamine sulfate. FYI sulphate is nowadays replaced by sulfate.

this looks like recrystallization from etoh might be a relatively easy option for purifying amphetamine sulfate. you might lose a bit more and your product would be less pure than with A/B but it's also a lot easier to do.
