What social anxiety drug should I take that won't interfere with mdma use?

I'm thinking about going to the doctor to treat my extreme social anxiety disorder, but don't want to get prescribed a drug that will interfere with my MDMA use (I use maybe 4-5 times a year). I know I don't get along well with effexor since I took that about 20 years ago and quit it after a month since it was making me nauseous and dizzy, so I'll ask the doc not to prescribe anything from that family. And I also know from reading this forum not to take SSRI's, so was wondering if anyone has had success with other types of social anxiety drugs. thanks!

Aside from serotonin-based pharmaceuticals, there's also dopamine ones, those probably won't interfere much with MDMA (I mean, they will, but MDMA's mostly a serotonin thing, only fucks around with a little bit of dopamine). There's also beta-blockers, which block adrenaline from coming into the brain, with anxiety it's kind of an off-label use but people do manage with them. (But, I've heard it's not a good idea to combine uppers like MDMA with beta-blockers, since your heart gets mixed signals and gets all fucked up, though people still do it anyways.)

We have not yet developed effective daily medications for social anxiety.

Actually, beta-blockers will attenuate the physiological manifestations of anxiety without affecting the mental component a great deal (epinephrine doesn't cross the BBB particularly readily anyway). While the dangers of combining them with stimulants are oft overstated, it's still a combination to avoid (due to unopposed alpha-agonism exerted by stimulants). It's really ill-advised to take a dose of stimulants so high that beta-blockers are needed or even desired.

ah, yeah, should've clarified that. i have heard of them being pretty effective for some people's anxiety though. i guess without the physical feeling, without the adrenaline and the shakes, maybe it's easier to overcome the mental thing, i dunno.

(what would happen if you took alpha and beta blockers as well as a heavy stimulant? just wondering)

oh and for your problem man, there's always benzos, like valium and xanax. never done them myself but i hear they're super addictive, and kinda just dumb you down anyways, probably a bad thing in the long run, i guess.

I am talking about benzos. They're useful for short-term anxiety effects, however as soon as you begin to up your dose with you psych, you're headed for trouble.

In my opinion benzos should be used in low dose with therapy for 1-2 months in the longest.

Benzos should only be used during a panic attack. And not the little ones, the big fuck-off ones. They're so crazy addictive and can cause so many problems. I have bad social anxiety and I avoid those things like the plague. Bad mojo.

From my knowledge ( could be false ) a raised serotonin level depletes dopamine slightly. Is this correct? And vice versa.

I'd never use benzos along with MDMA. MDMA in itself gets rid of anxieties. From experience, it was BAD, missing 8 hours of my life (eh that's common for me, lol), I was fucked for days to the point where I'd get constant head rush blackouts. Left me in the hospital.

For the comedown (often, lack thereof) only, golden!

Interesting topic, though.

I guess you could look into opiates, but I think it's not worth messing around with opiates for social anxiety.
