Good evening,
i recently came across Hydromorphone, 4mg's in tiny tiny little yellow pills. I already decided to shoot these, but, i have some concerns.
I went shopping for Syringe filters, and it appears they come in various sizes, materials, and mesh #'s.
There is
Laboratory Usage 0.45µm pore size, with a Cellulose membrane,
Laboratory Usage 0.22µm pore size, with a Cellulose membrane,
General Purpose 0.22µm pore size, with a Polyvinyl membrane,
General Purpose 0.22µm pore size, with a Nylon membrane,
and i am wondering, what the heck is the difference (other than size obv.)? As far as i am concerned, i will be using these filters to prepare a solution made from sterile saline solution and one pill each, for injection. Is there anything one should keep in mind when choosing these filters?
Is a solution made from a pill filtered through one of these .22 micron filters going to be suitable for Intramuscular Injection?
I know IM administration is an iffy thing, but i'd much rather IM this stuff then IV it. Are these filters enough to make it safe? Does the solution, once filtered and handled in a sterile manner, pose a risk once injected into a muscle?
It goes without saying that only new syringes will be used, and aseptic technique will be followed. My main concern here is contaminated solution leading to abscess.
How big is the risk of something nasty developing, provided I
1) Use sealed, new equipment
2) Prepare with Sterile, Injectable saline solution
3) Filter out particulates with the Micron filter
4) Inject into the proper place using proper aseptic technique
