What REALLY happens when you smoke or do n,n-dimethyltryptamine?

Well, the DMT travels through your bloodstream, crosses the BBB and binds to several 5HT receptor sub-types. The most notable being 5HT2a, which mediates most of the psychedelic activity. This may allow access to info you don't have in ordinary conscious states, but the idea that it puts you in touch with something outside your own brain has never been empirically supported

This is all technical talk and pharmacology. What literally happens in simple terms: The universe as you know it implodes and is rebuilt to a new understanding. Also PRETTY COLORS happen.:):)

The physical facts aside, the mystery is what keeps people exploring. :)

Well, if you hear a steady or rising tone, that's one piece of the experience that sets DMT apart from all other 5HT-loving entheogens.

I remember someone once mentioning DMT causes the most changes in brain activity near an area thought to generate a good deal of your brain's primary oscillation frequencies.

Wish I could remember where that was again...
