What Opiate(s) is Methadone Most Similiar to?

I've only taken it once before, & I don't even remember the effects of it that well 'cause it was a while ago & I mixed it with other things [I know, bad idea]. So, a friend of mine wants to trade me a bunch of my Xanax & Klonopin for a bunch [an obviously smaller bunch, of course] of Methadone. I take various painkillers occasionally, & really like to have them for stressful situations & for my anxiety. But before I agree to the trade I kind of want to have a bit of a better idea if it's actually worth it or not.
So what opiate(s) do you know or feel are the most similar to Methadone in effect? How does its recreational value compare to that of other opiates?
 
I would say hydrocodone, morphine is more sedating. Personally I think methadone is VERY euphoric if you don't have much of a tolerance. Based on your tolerance being pretty much zero, I'd recommend not taking more than 10 mg (15 mg tops). It takes a full 2-3 hours to fully kick in, so don't redose thinking you need more until that much time has passed. And don't mix it with alcohol or benzos, methadone is much more dangerous in terms of ODing than hydrocodone or oxycodone.
 
I was on MMT for over a year also but its been so long. When I first begun I was able to get really high on it and when I abused it but I was also on benzos so maybe my high was altered. The high was sedating and euphoric. Its really hard to compare Methadone with other opioids.

word, but the feeling is more so like morphine than any other opiate/oids. The feeling is morphine like. The sedation is a lot more intense though. What really confused me about this stuff was , I hate to be gross, but why on earth did this stuff well make me want to do the doo everytime I got home from the clinic or like 2 hours later. Whats up with that kd out n az
 
chemically, methadone is most similar to propoxyphene.

but effects wise, i'd say its similar to hydrocodone and oxycodone in that it has a high oral BA, but methadone lasts much much longer and i find it to be more sedating and is more prone to cause nausea/vomiting (at least in my experience with it).

it's quite sedating -- so in that regards its similar to heroin and morphine, but it's definitely not anywhere near as euphoric as heroin or morphine.

are you serious? methadone is known for constipating people...I go MAYBE once or twice a week and from what I hear thats pretty normal.
 
BananasAndOranges, that is very odd because it constipated the hell out of me while on MMT.

If I had to compare Methadone to anything it would be heroin, just less euphoric. However its just as sedating. I've had some insane nods off it. As the effects go on it becomes more stimulating. Thats why its hard for me to compare to other opioids.
 
Swear to god it made me shit. Like a good shit an hour after effects would kick in Every time I would dose. I thought it was weird because the shits strong and I would assume it would in fact constipate me. Maybe its because I put hella fiber in my diet?

Methadone's just weird. It gets you high as fuck. I would black out on it sometimes thats without the benzos I take everyday as prescribed to.

Shiiiit for real? How long you been going there? I went there about a month ago dopesick. I was busting up lines with my id the previous night and blacked out and forgot to put the shit back it. My dad was so bummed he drove me there haha.

Also I've never seen so many cars lined up at 5am for some methadone! I go to a place in illinois because thats where I live and I didnt know this clinic was like an hour away because its not on any lists I had to get the number from some lady at another clinic, but there's never Anyone there.
 
methadone did not help me when i was dope sick at all. maybe i did not take enough?? only came across it a couple times and it make me super sleepy no buzz at all ;<

you obviously didn't take enough methadone is the perfect drug if you're dopesick....depending on how sick clinics usually give out 30mg to everyone as a starter dose...

ehh I've been there going on 9 months now...Yeah 5am-6am it's ridiculous, is that when you got there for intake? How much do they charge to dose at your new clinic?
 
I'm not sure what I could compare it to.

The only time I really god a nod off it was back in high school and I had one of those giant wafers (I've never seen it again, the methadone I see now is small, but this one was a big ass pill) and got wrecked, but wasn't very opiate experienced, hadn't done heroin at that point, so not sure.

After being pretty opiate experienced and taking it, I find that it's a pain to get enough. I'd rather just get some heroin, or fell ok off sub. But at low dosages I just don't find it pleasurable. In comparison taking a small amount of oxy or doing a small bag of dope, won't get me wrecked, but it's enjoyable. The methadone doesn't have that factor for me, unless at really high dosages, or which I find hard to acquire/really test out in depth.
