What music sucked you into the world of EDM

Man I'm an old head here! I go back to 1994. I always liked all kinds of music. But when I heard this I was like whooooa now I found my music. No other song sounded like this at the time.

Interesting topic. I have no idea exactly which music got me into EDM, but here's a little story about how I got into it:

I used to listen to a lot of screamo and that kinda music, was really into it. One day a guy in my class (I didn't even like the guy) added a guy he knew on my Facebook (I knew his little sister though) and he randomly started talking to me. We made friends, and today that guy is my roommate. He listened a lot to dubstep (not Skrillex-type of thing), dnb, trance and house. I remember we talked about music and found out that despite what we mainly listened to, we had a lot in common. We started hanging out and smoking, and all the time we would listen to music and watch videos. This is how I got introduced to EDM.
We later applied for the same school on the other side of the country (Norway) and both got in, so we became roommates/classmates/basically brothers. At this school, we met a girl who we kinda already knew from a Norwegian forum pretty similar to Bluelight. Since we were from a little town, we knew next to nothing about the underground rave scene in Oslo, but she introduced us to it. We started going to warehouse raves with psy trance, and got to know some people who arrange these raves. Now we use to help them arrange them and stuff, and also started going to Holland to go to bigger events; in November 2012 we were at Qlimax, and in February we'll go to Hard Bass. After that little coincidence that introduced me to this world, I have so much I want to experience and so many festivals I want to go to.

I'm about to sound really old in this thread.. but here goes..

In 1983 my mother brought home Ministry - With Sympathy and then in 1986 Ministry - Twitch ... VINYLS X_x.... I listed to the hell out of them.. It was the only real EBM out at the time

1987 KLF was all over MTV (back when they played music...) and I was hook...

By the early mid 1990's House music was everywhere and groups like The Prodigy, Propellerheads, Fatboy slim were gaining mainstream air play ... It was interesting growing up listing to stuff no one had heard of and trying really hard to get others interested and pretty much being considered the freak for it.. Other kids in the late 80's were into New Kids on the block.. in the 1990's Grunge ( I like that too but.. ) I was hitting raves starting in about 1994/ 1995 as the Tampa area had a massive underground scene back then..

Fast forward nearly 20 years and now most "Raves" here are held in reputable venues.. Go figure.. We have MASSIVE event series like ULTRA in Miami that sellls out year after year.. It has been a ride and a hell of a show watching music evolve..

If you have never done it Check out the wiki page that list all the sub genres of EBM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_electronic_music_genres Its a bit mind blowing..

daft punk first peeked my interest years back... that i got sucked into everything.. from fatboy slim to deadmau5 to hardwell to porter robinson... the list can go on forever :)

FORGOT to mention pendulum, they are fucking sick and i love them more than any group out there now.. too bad they are knife party now though lol

Well, I always used to listen to metal stations on WinAmp radio. Then, I stumbled upon Digitally Imported, and listened to it constantly. That's where I heard Above and Beyond TATW for the first time, and ever since I've been an avid listener! #ABGT for life!

The glorious 303

http://www.discogs.com/artist/Ingmar+Koch

Especially his aliases: Dr.Walker, U.M.O (unidentified musical objects), electronic dub, (planet) Lovecore<3, Air liquide. & not to forget the collabs with jammin unit, GIZZ TV,

When I first typed out my response I noticed I wrote a <3 after each alias because writing out every name gives me such a good remembrance to the music. Quite frankly everything this man touches is good... genius!

the 808 & 909 sound also got me into electronic music since my brothers are quite the fans of the late eighties early nineties hiphop sound(music only/sparce amount of vocals) and ofcourse miami bass/electro bass %)
