What makes you read a post here?

Why do you click some threads and not the others? Just curious because I keep seeing some with 25 views and others with 6... What catches your attention and what turns you away?

A lotta reasons actually.

Firstly sometimes the icon - I might choose something with that little purple sad face if I'm down. Or ones with the little heart next to them etc.

Also the title, and its not just choosing a clever title its just what appeals to me that particualr day.

Also the poster, that includes ppl who I have never seen here before.

Finally time, I don't often have time to read through all the wonderful stuff posted on here, so its what grabs me from what I've mentioned above.

i'll generally read most things by people that i know, most (but not all) by people whose work i've come to like, and then i just pick titles - whatever looks like it could be interesting

Great thread, great question. I have been trying to submit some of my stuff on here, but apparently it hasn't gotten recognized, or, maybe, it is not worthy of recognition.

I do think it mainly is based on who the person writing it is firstly, then secondly, the number of prior viewers, and thirdly, how interesting the title appears. I want some feedback though! Also I wish I could get my damn pics up and working. I'm still relatively new I guess. Words is by far my fav forum though. No doubt.

Just another thought came to my mind here - usually if someone has commented on my work, especially if they "get what I am saying" in what I have written makes me want to look at what they have written.

Kinda like looking for that connection in what they have to say.

when i see 87000 posts by the same person, on the same page, i usually stay away.............. it's annoying and it makes other peoples' great work get past by because it's pushed to the second page.

I tend to read the work of my friends first and foremost..thats a given...but once in a while ill read someone i dont really know of and ill be totally blown away and surprised and will make me want to read more of his /her work.
I love getting surprised :D

usually i'll look for a subject that reflects the mood i'm in, usually by the icon. i've got a few favourite poets on here that i'll always read first, but i always try to look for new poets, specially if they're newbies to the board

i don't always reply, i probably read three times as much as i reply to.

The first thing I go by is who posted it...there are some posters whose stuff I really like, and I'll always try to read anything they write here, even if I don't necessarily comment on it.

Next is the title...if the title grabs me, I'm more likely to pay attention to it.

Finally....when I hold my cursor over the title, when the first part of the writing comes up in that little preview box....if that doesn't grab me, I don't want a bar of it.
