sleep is good. Those who stay up all the time do not mix with those who smoke all the time. ;) I was ready to crash before y'all even showed up.
We'll hang again soon Phil. You can count on it.

I love cali because we have so much ecological diversity. you can see mountians desert areas beaches plains. its grteat its like a mini usa.

I really wanted to type out a really long diatribe about everything that makes California that best place ever (and hey, they still could have broken it up into 2 states and had two KICK-ASS states), but that's not going to get anywhere (stupid lethargia) so here's a little list:
-Alejandro's (aka Albertos, Albertas, Filibertos, any of the -ertos chain): That's some damn fine Mexican food at a price that can't be beat. And hell, most of them are 24-hrs. Nothing like making a 4am Carne Asada burrito run your first week of college to cement together some bonds.
-San Luis Obispo: Sure I'm from around there, hence the reason that I don't want to be there right now, but it's a great little city. Not too big, not too small, a good college there to keep everyone on their toes. Right by the beach, with enough small town charm to keep it interesting. Not to mention the coolest hotel ever, the Madonna Inn!!! (As a sidenote to college-level kids; a report in the Daily Mustang (or whatever Cal Poly's newspaper is) said that 80% of women (polled, I guess) are on birth-control, but only like 20% of them for medical reasons)
-UCs: The best college system in the world, and I get to (got to) go there for the same price as 1/5 of the price of a college like Stanford (also a nice place, but I digress).
-Northern California: Have you seen this shit? It's fuckin' LUSH up there. There are trees that are older than you can imagine, that are so big that you can't give them the deserved respect by trying to picture them in your mind. There is greenery everywhere, and beautiful parks, reserves, etc... In fact, it's so beautiful, I'm going there next weekend.
-Surfing in the morning, snowboarding in the afternoon. I believe this is the most amazing things that you can get in this country (let alone this continent on hemisphere, short of Chile). Not only can you do this, but you can do this at some of the coolest beaches in the US. Or, if you're really excited (which breaks the rules), go hit up some really nice beach right south of the border, from a country that seems to care about it's natural beauty (by the water, at least).
-Ecosystem: California has one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world (sure, there's no rain forests, but we have everything else). Death Valley, Northern California, Sierra Nevadas, highest point in contiguous 48 states, lowest point in contiguous 48 states (which are only 85 miles apart), glaciers. Wine country, weed country (hehe), farming country. Everything. Just not rain forests.
...and everything in between.

You may have a problem.

Things I like about northern Cal:
The Weather
Beaches
The woods right next to the sea
San Francisco
THE FOOD!
The nice friendly people who know they live in one of the best places inthe world
The best medical MJ laws in the state & and the country
All the best drugs and people who know what there worth is.
Being able to walk up a mountain and seeing the SF Bay on one side one the ocean the other as the sun rises on another day.
The nice courtous people at parties
And the fog, you cant forget the fog!
Things I like about sothern Cal:
Fealing like Im in a porno all day
The entity which is LA
Theme Parks
Hollywood
The Southern Mountains and there grany red color
Del Taco
Things I like about central Cal:
Come on now, I know its flat, hot, not near any beaches, the people are jerks and its poluted but there is still some cool things in Central Cali. So why not Fresno? Its a nice place if you know where to look.
The Serria Navadas in Winter
The National Parks
Pretending to vacation in Ohio on a budget
Lakes and rivers
Cheap ass gas for only 1.40 a gallon
Poeple of every race and color brought together by ceromstance and trying the best to pull together and make it work in a place so inhospitable
Cool cars in the paper I afford
The Central Valley sunsets
The FOOD!!!! I mean some of the BEST Mexican food and the Best Indian food I have ever had. Though Chinese is for shit down there.
Being 3 1/4 hous away from the bay and 5 from LA
The people with the cymbal lookin hats
Fresh produce
Meting someone who is from the bay or somewhere else and going through the same learning experince of living someplace shitty so they can better unterstand there place in life too.
Laughing at the stupid ass Bee papers
Making fun of Johovas Wittnesses and cristian fundamentalst
And most importantly helping to bring down the fucking man!!! After all, if we dont help to make central Cali a cool place nobody else is gona do it. That means people who live there too. It could be a cool place but theres no denying the fact that there is alot of them Billy Grahm wanabes there who fuck up the state for the rest of us. We just gota eduacate um, fight to take back our back our rights, and push ourselfs to the limits of what we can do as a culture in a place like that and create some beauty and meaning out of the nothingness.

ey' man you just sayin' central cali is nothing cuz you from the bay where there is lotsa somethings that you can barely take your eyes off of!
I've lived in California all my life: Southern birth - 7 yrs., Central 7yrs. - 16yrs. and 6 months, Northern 3 1/2 months!
Southern California is pretty awesome when your a kid, well anywhere is but damn I had a nice time living there. I Lived 10 miles from a flat, low tide beach where my family would have bon fires all the time. I admired surfers and swam in the ocean a lot. I feel a strangeness going back to LA now but I still really like the interesting atmosphere it lends to your life. Hollywood and Beverly Hills are a twisted trip! You might see a disheveled looking homeless lady with a shopping cart out in the middle of a Beverly Hills street yelling at cars while you stare up at a Gap billboard and there are expensive looking people in expensive looking cars honking. Ahh, Del Taco...french fries and a taco to boot.
Central Cali is where I've spent most of my life and hated it most of my life. I won't go off listing all the things I dislike about Central Cali because I'd be wasting everyone's thought. But there are very many cultures who live here and have opened up restaraunts and awesome stores to cater to the small communities of their cultures. They usually don't mind it when people outside their communities stop in and get to know them a bit better.
Houses and land are cheap.
If you look down the streets on a clear winter day you can sometimes see snow capped mountains. Small but sprawly big town feeling makes you feel right at home. They say you get an accent living in the central valley. The ol' Californian southern drawl ;) In the most suburban neighborhoods you can still find nature popping up in those nicely trimmed lawns. I am talking about weeds and fungi, ahhh hhhaaa hha ha haa!
Northern California is the nicest (in many ways) places I've ever lived. I only lived there for 3 1/2 months but experienced so much before that and in that period of time that made me so much more universally aware. I experienced really, really, really good sea food! Amazing beaches I barely even knew existed! Coming from LA beaches makes you cringe at the beauty of a Marin or Sonoma County beach. The forest makes you feel like a fairy seeing all the lush ferns and mushrooms hiding underneath the nooks and crannies of the forest floor. Ahhh, I had never felt more greatful to be alive then when I lived there. Even living there made me appreciate the vast flatness and polar opposites the Central Valley has. The majority of people are amazinginly nice and courteous and not stuck up like many other people I've met in SC and CC. More people are aware and smarter and they know it too. Education is so readily available and the human resources are very well organized and coordinated, well atleast most of it. I'm talking about bus, women's health care etc. Shit, not to forget the music scene!!! And all the music the bay area attracts.
California is a richly woven state full of many great peoples and some great educational and natural sites. Yay California! You got to experience California if you have not been here, come visit!
Peace!

Sorry to say, but i'm not enjoying it yet. I moved out here 2 months ago from Philly. I went to ucla for freshman year, and went back home the next. I'm back in hopes to finish up school someday, when i can score in state tuition. There was definately an attraction that brought me back ;) Since i moved out here, i haven't had a job, and it's REALLY buggin me. I can't go about my regular life until i can put some money in my pocket. I saved up quite a bit to get me by till now, but i'm about to go broke.

just a quick bump as I enjoy yet another WONDERFUL SUMMER DAY here in sunny San Diego. =D

With the prune coming, I just wanted to bump this. And yes, yet another sunny day in San Diego, though it was pouring earlier in the morning, all is fine now. :D

I wonder if phil will ever post more of that paper...

Anyways, I love this state. I've lived in Venice my whole life, but I think I'm about to move up to Norcal for school. Either way, I'm pretty certain I'll stay in this state for the rest of my life. Nice bump jeff, this is a dope thread.

And In N Out does pay well. Free burgers too. :D
