It's something in the air, blowing down off the hills lifted out of the ocean, carrying the scent of ancient redwoods and chaparral flowers.
It's something in the air, coming from the meeting of ideas and cultures, converging then reorganizing and diverging only to converge again in new and interesting forms. It's the energy of evolution proceeding at a rapid pace, as people throw aside social norms as we craft a more pluralistic society. There is no "mainstream" here any longer.
With greater diversity comes more variety, more experience with which each person can accelerate their personal evolution--if they should choose to do so. Dancing on a beach overlooking the Pacific to psychedelic trance unheard of in most other parts of the country…watching my friends define the cutting edge of computer animation and visual artistry…hearing my atheist Human Behavioral Biology professor talk about the chaos underlying the interconnectedness of everything…smelling the dankness of the medical marijuana that my friend used to grow…tasting the wonderful Pacific Rim cuisine of San Francisco's culinary cutting edge…
It's a vibe, coming from all the great people who have made this place their home. A more relaxed atmosphere where a random person on the street isn't too uptight to exchange a few friendly words with you. Where a random person will smoke you out because they understand that weed is meant to be shared.
It's all the old chemists who made acid during the 60's, and wanting to pass down an ethos that is being forgotten, one of psychedelics as tools for spiritual enlightenment rather than commodities to get fucked up on. It's all the younger entrepreneurs pushing the field forward creating chemicals not out of the profit motive, but out of the desire to have a new experience and share it with others. Where else do you find so many small-scale chemists who are actually trained and know what they are doing, who are in it for the sacred Love?
In the end, it all comes down to LOVE! In the cradle of the Summer of Love, its really no surprise that Love lives on.
Let the NorCal and SF spirit live on forever!
