Heroin What makes the first time for a person slamming heroin so desirable?

^Agreed. It sounds sick, but I would actually really like it when I'd wake up sick but have money to score. That 5 minute ride on the train to my copspot almost gave me a high in itself. I mean, the sickness sucked, but I knew in a few minutes that would give way to a feeling of total liberation. The first shot of the day, is always the best.

I think another thing that differentiates IV heroin use (or IV use in general), is there is a lot of ritual involved in it, and as you become more deeply involved, you begin to cherish flicking the bags, stirring the dope, and watching the blood shoot up the barrel. There is of course ritual involved in insufflation, but for me, it didn't haunt me as much as IV use did. I love the quote from Lou Reed's song Heroin:
cause it makes me feel like I'm a man, when I put a spike into my vein,
And I'll tell you things aren't quite the same,
when I'm rushing' on my run, and I feel like Jesus' son,
and I guess I just don't know, oh and I guess that I just don't know"

Pretty much sums up the whole thing to me.

As I wrote in another thread, it's a genetic disorder which leads to a non-properly-working endorphine-neurotransmitter-system (brain chemistry isn't doing what it should do or the way it should do it). For these people, drugs feel good, because they bring them relief from symptoms they can't even name. But most substances aren't suited for long-term-treatment. Only opioids are. They are totally harmless for body and mind. But they are heavily controlled, that's why so many people drink alcohol (alcohol has an equal effect in bringing relief from the symtoms, but it's highly toxic and absolutely not suited for long-term-consumption!) - it's legal and easy to obtain.

There is no "being clean". There is no "relapse". That's all bullshit. Propaganda, programming.

End prohibition = end the drug problem.
