What made you smile today?

A fine-ass man (who I happen to adore) was just doing push-ups in the floor of my room.

Something about a man's back flexing when he does push-ups....... **growl**

Realising I have only three weeks to go before packing up my life and moving from Australia to the UK.
I am just SO exited
=D

I usually hate my curly hair.....for the most part I was always straightening it but it takes so much time and its so annoying to do....that I've just been rocking my curls lately and trying to get used to them...

Anyway...

I was walking down a hallway on my way to an interview, and this woman behind me says "Are those your curls?" (meaning are they naturally mine or did I get a perm). I said "yes, their natural" and she said "Wow they are so beautiful, you're so lucky to have hair like that." And it made me smile :)

Reading some of the posts on bluelight here today just made my day. I realized what a great and special little community we have here. It's a microcosm of the world in general. And, it makes me appreciate all the cultures and diversity we have.

A phone call from my best friend in college. We haven't seen each other for almost a year and she is coming to visit in two weeks! Quite excited, and definitely made me smile.

phone calls phone calls

Today, in the midst of feeling like crap, and my phone again not working...
IT RANG....
My sweetie on the other end....just hearing him talk about this baby, and coming home to me, and how he just wishes he could hold me.... :(
Makes me sad, but happy I atleast get to talk to him!

Getting a call from someone I was once very close to, someone I will love forever if only for helping me to be a better person, and hearing, "you should come have a beer with me and my parents." And going to have that beer.

You know, I've never posted in this thread... never even READ it... then I got a phone call this morning from a relative...

You see, for the past 14 or so years, my step-mom MaryAnn has been the focal point of the family... the one who held everyone together in one way or another. Everyone in the family would call her to tell her what was going on in their lives. If anyone had a question or needed advice, they called my mom. If there was going to be an event that was important to the family, she was the one that organized everything.

Some of you may or may not remember my post back in April about my mother's death... finally losing a 6 year battle with cancer. Now the "hub" of our family is gone, and no one keeps the family info like she did.

This morning, I got to be the surrogate hub, when my cousin's wife calls me and starts to go through everything that's been going on for her family, tells me their problems, and then I gave my advice and dished out the wisdom. For a few minutes, I took up the mantle of my mom, and it felt good. It's not something that I'd want to end up doing for the rest of my life, and frankly I won't be able to since I won't be living in Texas forever... but it felt good for a few minutes to be able to stand in for mom and be there for the family.

That was the first thing that made me smile today... I hope there will be a few more before the sun goes down. :D

i got an email from my brother, who is in an army camp in washington state. he's been calling my parents and updating them, but today i got a message.

Web...that was beautiful :o

In the wee hours of this morning, I got an IM from an old "friend". I met him thru BL, and then he got locked up for awhile. I wrote to him while he was locked up, and talked a bit after he got out. It was great to ehar from him this morning though, and to hear him so happy with his life! He has seemed to have such a hard time in the past, adn it really made me smile to hear that things are well for him!
;)

meeting a BEAUTIFUL girl whos name is kristen...she has the most gorgeous eyes, brightest smile, and the best attitude i have ever known a girl to have=D i just met her about three days ago but last night we kicked back at my friends house and talked and got to know eachother really good. i havent really known happiness for a while but after last night i couldnt wipe the smile off my face. all i could keep thinking about is the way her eyes would gaze into mine...sorry if this is too *mushy* but i havent felt like this over a girl in three years:)
