^ Just wanted to thank jaspersilence & Toz for saying what they did with grace. No mention of prices, or specific places to get them. People understanding the rules makes me happy. :)

Anybody else experiencing crazy dreams like these?

I am Rx'd for insomnia, and actually when I take them I don't remember my dreams at all. Also could have something to do with the SSRI I'm on disrupting parts of REM sleep though.

While I haven't tried zolpidem, I found the hallucinogenic effects of zaleplon to be delightful. Is zolpidem really so different/unpleasant by comparison (if anyone has experience with both)?

I figured recreational benefit of this type of experience depends greatly on an individual's susceptibility to said side effect. The little fact sheet that came with the sample I had described hallucinations as occurring in like 1-2% of users, and I did experience them at typical therapeutic doses (to a lesser extent than at higher ones, of course). Someone less susceptible would need more (causing more anterograde amnesia and other side effects) and thus find it less enjoyable. Alternatively, they might be more vulnerable to side effects like confusion than I. Or so my hypothesis goes.

If I'm right, then if you don't find lower doses particularly pleasant, it would be unwise to expect better results from higher ones. While this may generally be true for benzo like drugs, it is much more so for the z-drugs, given their propensity to induce a delirium-like state in many individuals.

I always blackout, no matter what the dose is. Usually before I blackout I hallucinate but not in a LSD way, it's more like you'll stare in the mirror and see that you have 4 heads. Last time I tried I couldn't stop watching Justin Bieber videos on youtube. It's a pretty weird drug but I'd definitely do it again.

I am on 20mg zolpidem and high grade herbs, and
while I feel a mild drunkenness/dissociation, i feel as othough there are greater effects to be had, and I wondered if taking another 10mg would be dangerous? I dont re.ally wana black out either

most people take about 40/50 mg for the recreational effects. that's what i would take. my experiences changed during the time i was on it. it started out with amazing hallucinations, like things popping off the walls and coming right up to my face, and words on the screen tilting to be 3D and i could see their under-bellies. eventually it changed to less hallucinations to just feeling really floaty and light. eventually i started blacking out almost every time i took them.
i suggest that if you decide to try zolpidem, put the extra pills somewhere in a different room so that you don't take more while high or blacked out, because that can get you into trouble.

Ah zolpidem........

Scary stuff really. Plus, for me anyway, goddamn it makes me EAT. I can't imagine smoking pot AND having a zol or two. I'd probably eat the entire pantry! xD

I personally would become one of those unfortunate individuals whose obesity becomes so severe that it eventually requires removal from bed or home with some sort of construction equipment.

An evening of weed consumption, back in the day, would inevitably result in a visit to convenience stores/fast food restaurants. A lot of junk food, king size candybars, and big ole greasy pizzas and burgers. I would pig out and then pass out.

An evening of zolpidem consumption now results in waking up later with empty - or half empty- boxes of cereal or cookies, various snack cake wrappers, plates, a chunk or two of melted chocolate, one time half a footlong sub lying in bed next to me. The problem I have with this is that I actually wake up thinking I did really well not indulging any late night cravings.....until I am confronted with the undeniable evidence. Then I realize I have consumed a huge amount of empty calories that I can not remember getting any sort of satisfaction from.

At least I could remember how absolutely fantastic just about any food tasted when I had the weed-munchies. I had to give up the weed long before the zolpidem came on the scene, I simply can't imagine the food I would go through with that combo. :)

Of course there are many other bad effects, such as those annoying blackouts, that I experience with zolpidem.....this is just one. I honestly wish I had never taken even one of them.....they are just evil for me.

Peace,

C.

Hehe I also always get really hungry on the Z-drugs, it's just as "bad" as weed in that department for sure :)

I rank the Z drugs in this order: Zolpidem > Zaleplon > Zopiclone in terms of recreational effects. Zolpidem is very similiar to zaleplon, it is NEVER unpleasant, although the day after might be if you black out ;)

I don't understand the halluginogenic / dissociative reputation of z-drugs...i used to dose zolpidem daily and in high dosage (minimum 40mg to 100+ mg) and i never found it to be hallucinogenic in any way
Also the pharmacology confirm my thinking, agonist of gaba-a receptor like benzos but with higher affinity to a subunit of that receptor
In effect i feel the difference between zolpidem and benzos 'cause zolpidem make me less drowsy and more "drunk like", but not hallucinated or dissociated at all..

This drug is evil. There's nothing enjoyable about it, unless you like losing your fucking mind for several hours.

I used to take it for insomnia...but I'd take some, blackout, then "wake up" to find the entire bottle (30 pills, 10mg each) empty.

Fucking horrifying hallucinations. I will never take this shit again.

it's a weird drug, if you hit the sweet spot zoldipem can be suprisingly psychedelic (although perhaps not in the true sense of the word) i won't disagree that is definitely has the capacity to turn very nasty though

Zolpidem is a weird drug. I don't take it often at all, and used 5mg the other night while on vacation along with 2mg alprazolam (xanax), and ended in someone else's room, not knowing where in the hell I was or how the hell I got there. God knows who I talked to or what I said along the way, but I remember waking up wondering where I ended up, only to walk out of the room and head back down the hallway to my room and pass out for a considerable amount of time. It will prob be the last time I do something like that.

so i'm either really lucky or really weird, i'm the only one here who find zolpidem perfectly normal and, if any, less potent than any benzo

^ I am Rx'd it, and find that for me I can take 10mg a couple hours before bed maybe once or twice a week. I don't get anything but a slightly pleasant and relaxed feeling, and then a nice more peaceful night of sleep. However, this more likely than not has to do with my rather high tolerance to benzos and the cross tolerance.

I've never messed around with higher doses though, so I can't speak for that, nor do I recommend it.

It doesn't give me hallucinations either unless I inject them (then I once saw my chair turn into a spider and crawl away). Or well, it changes my vision somewhat, but nothing extreme.

Whats bannging them like? Ive actually heard from a few ppl it has a coke like rush. Not too sure about that as i am pretty experienced with ambien. Im surprised so many ppl dont like ambien in a recreational settting. When i had an rx i loved to take 40mgs and sit on the computer listening to music and watching trippy plug ins or making weird music, waking up the next morning finding an open session and all this strange sounding stuff i had created the night before that i couldnt remember making. Its been a long time since i held a spike, prolly 3 years now, so i highly doubt id ever iv it, plus never been into slamming pills, too much gunk. But it does sound interesting.

My senior year of high school I experimented with the recreational possibilities of Ambien and the first few times were very enjoyable. I felt weightless and had hallucinations that were unlike that of any psychedelic drug. One day I took about 25mg and went to school, which was probably the stupidest thing I could have possibly done. I remember sitting in class waiting for the effects to start and then I blacked out and woke up in the nurse' office while the paramedics were feeding me charcoal.... I have no recollection of what happened but was told that I was obviously very messed up and was not able to speak coherently and had to be escorted by security to the nurse, and by escorted I mean i had to hold on to him because I couldn't even walk. Lesson learned to say the least. Recently I acquired some ambien and decided to give it another try, but I was unable to get the same effects that I used to get and instead just felt a weird spaced out sorta high

This has been fully covered at this point. Bringing up IV use when it was not originally asked about is discouraged. This is highly dangerous and should be avoided. On that note I'm going to close this. PM any questions.
