What is your favourite AND your most hated accent?

Seth Efricen accents rock

Also love Brazilian women talking, esp the softer accents from Porto Alegre.
Monkey Hanger, Newcastle, Scouse and Sunderland accents..Just Horrid. Sorry

Love Scottish accents myself :) And I love Irish accents because they're one of the few that I cannot - for the life of me - impressionate! 8(
And fuck you whoever said South African was an annoying accent! It's brilliant! All you have to do is actually say "South African" in their accent and it cheers me up every single time :D

"Sith Africin!"

=D~<3

"Impressionate?" Arf =D

I really can't stand US accents, always seem so fake and plastic. In the uk I find most accents interesting, love scouse, london and scottish accents. The only accent that sometimes gets on my nerves is the fake gangsta, although I do mostly find it funny innit blud

Jafacian kids saying feds for police is the most annoying thing ever. I didn't know we had an FBI in the UK?

I really like the teenage chav nasal accent, find it funny actually. Used to have ton of mancunian friends and for about a year I was talking like them, I don't have a native accent so I usually pick on my surroundings. Got told I spoke like a manc for a while. I corrected that swiftly thanks to my man crush on danny dyer and now I speak like I'm trying for a nick love film.

Over here I hate southern accents and especially the Rome accent, annoying bastards

I love the deep bass of a Yardie, especially if he is trying to offer me something illegal or he breaks into a deep laugh and says,"No mon, I fookin luv this guys, heeeees funny. Old me red stripe while I roll this spliff"

I can't stand South African accents because within five minutes I know something stupid or narrow minded is going to come out of their mouth.

That thing about Saffies yeah, I don't like to brush everybody the same and I hate prejudices, but fucking hell I'm yet to meet an Israeli or a South African who didn't turn out to be a total twat within five minutes of me talking to them. Only south african I was good friends with for years was this bloke who was actually originally a refugee from Congo and got given citizenship, we were close mates for four years in London, but all other born and bred saffies have been awful people.

Agreed. I mean I come across some racist cunts in Australia, particularly the further north you run, but even the nicest Saffa mates I know have the under current of intolerance and racial superiority. Mind you I have never met a native Fijian who doesn't hate an Indian so intolerance is pretty much universal.

Favourite: Merseyside accent spoken by a woman, and a mild Scottish accent spoken by a man (not sure why the distinction).

Least favourite: There's something about the Mexican accent (when speaking English) that grates on me for reasons I cannot explain. It probably isn't fair to judge the accent that goes natively with a completely different language by how it sounds in English, and it has an unfortunate inference of xenophobia, but I'll have to take that bullet.

Oh no! I would always turn Cilla Black down. Her volume, any offer of her...

But there are scouse voices which are a pleasure to listen to. I don't mind Craig Charles's voice (squeal little piggy!), or John Lennon. It depends on the speaker.

Funny, I agree with all of the above - Cilla Black has what I think is a 'scouse' accent, which I'm less keen on, wheras Craig Charles is (iirc) from somewhere around The Wirral. My fondness is for the latter. Massively depends on the tone!

Actual urban scouse accents are pretty diverse, especially between north and south Liverpool. Then you have the out-of-town sub-scouse ones. I must confess that I do find it attractive coming from women.

Lennon? For some reason a lot of suvverners compare my accent to his.

As a Manc, you can imagine my joy...

In order to not offend some of my favourite people on BL I'm staying well out of this thread.

"I like a girl who speaks like Paul Gascoigne"

Best line in EADD last year. You know who you are.

Favourites the Edinburgh accent and Welsh

Least favourites - Birmingham, Geordie, Scouse :/

I love a general English accent on girls, guess 'cause I'm Irish so were not really supposed to like it - but it's sexy, especially the 'posher' london accent.. Also love the Cork/Kerry accent (think Roy Keane but stronger) here in Ireland which is probably my favourite accent, it's hilarious but great...
... The one I really can't stand is the Donegal accent which would be similair to the rest of Ulster, but is far more difficult to understand than a typical Belfast accent for example..

So, in summary

Cork / English (London) - good accents
Donegal / Ulster - bad accents

.. Also I love the way Africans from Nigera / Ghana etc. speak English, and of course the Carribeann accent probably tops everything... Yeah I declare the Jamaican accent number 1 along with the Cork accent
